Is this a good deal on a 2001 C320?

I just saw a 2001 C320 with 80,000 miles for sale. The owner wants $16,900. Is this a fair deal? What should I be looking for in checking the car out?

I've been reading a lot of problems with W203s. This car was produced Oct 2000 which makes it one of the first ones to come out. What problems can I expect? Should I look elsewhere and pass on this car?

Thanks for the information.

Too expensive

Tooo expensive, in CA ... but all depend on where you live and what condition is the car... has it been hit , paintwork / body workd done?

I would go for 13 - 14 with that milage

The price really depends on the area you are living ..
Check the carfax and ask your dealer to print the car's service history ..
Find out if the car is equipped with an extended warranty as it may save you some headaches in the future ...

Prky,

My suggestion is that you do some homework, ie. investigate this car. Ask the owner where the car has been serviced. If at a local dealer, then go there and request (or have the owner call and get it for you) a copy of the Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI) which will show you all the service completed at the dealership. If the car was cared for at a local independent, then go there, and obtain all records. When you bring the car into your choice of a local independent garage for an exam, have them check out the VMI and/or service records from the other garage. Ask the owner for any and all service records they have. Are they the original owners? If not, see if they have any records that may reveal who the original purchaser was. You can always contact that person, providing you know how to look them up.

I purchased a used C320, it is great. Fortunately, I had some of the factory warranty left and had to use it to replace some faulty electronic components. Also, ask questions to members of this forum as well other MB forums. The internet really can educate you about this vehicle.

Best of luck with your purchase.
Al

Al,
Thanks for the info. I spoke to the owner and the car has some intermittent problems with the remote. The dealer gave a ballpark estimate of $500 to fix it.
The car has been sold and I was not fortunate to buy it. Oh well, the hunt for a W203 continues.
