Stone chips

Hey guys.. just wondering what's the best way to protect the car from stone chips?
I drive my car quite carefully, I don't tailgate etc but still the bottom part of my bumper is covered in them.

Any suggestions?

Any quality invisible bra will work pretty good against small rocks. They're not that expensive either!!!

Question stone chip repair

What do you recommend after the hood has a few small stone chips? I don't want to pay to have it repainted, but I notice them every time I wash the car.

Then smooth the edges of the resultant 'blob' with Langka.

Learn not to tailgate, you'll get far fewer chips. I learned the hard way, on a motorcycle. Follow to close and I get zingers hitting my legs....

Then you didn't learn enough on your motorcycle On a bike you stay away from being directly behind the wheels kicking up the rocks/whatever in front of you and stay within their mirror reflection. In a car you may only reduce the chips by staying WAY back... stuff bounces after it hits the road. The best reason to stay further behind with a motorcycle is total stopping distance....reaction time + stopping time....is 'usually' longer. If you don't wear proper protection on a motorcycle then you are accepting the pain.

You can wear all the protection you want when its cold outside, when summer time hits, the chaps no longer seem comfortable...

paint touch up kit ?

Does this kit seem good or is it more than I need? Do I really need a blending solution?

They're not even comfortable in the winter for me. The only 'protection' I ever wear are full face shield helmet, boots, gloves, Levis, a jacket, or a rain suit. Only sensible people wear full leathers.

That's a new one for me. I'd be real interested on how well it works if you get it.....please report back if you do! I have so many chips after five years on the road I've stopped filling all but the bigger one's in. I use the paint pen and Langka method. The site doesn't explain very much but what little it says sounds promising.

It's worth it for the cherry finished wood box the stuff comes in. Looks like langka where you paint the stuff on, then use a chemical to smooth it out. If it works as well as langka then you have a 50/50 chance of success.

One with 4 wheels
Grrr......my stupid landscaping crew was doing the lawn and the mower kicked up a rock and chipped the crap out of my rear passenger door. After doing some research on Langka, I decided to order it, as well as some MB touch up paint for my pewter metallic car. I'll keep you just posted on how it turns out.

Thanks
