Issues Wtf!?

Hey guys,

I drove out-of-town last weekend and noticed 2 things about my car:

1st Issue:

I got an alignment done at 8500 miles because my car was pulling to the right, and now, at 10k, at hwy speeds, I'm noticing the car is STILL pulling to the right, and I need it done AGAIN. WTF??

When I got the car back from the dealer the first time, it seemed like they fixed it. (it was hard to tell because I wasn't driving straight flat roads at 75-80mph continuously, but city roads at low stop and go speed) So is this alignment issue coming up again because they didn't fix it the first time or what? Or would it be a tire issue?

2nd Issue:

Convenience features STILL don't work after fiddling with it. Is this a common problem with Benz's or just C's in general?

Looks like I'm going to have to take it to the dealer AGAIN.

I had the allignment issue with my mom's SL...Have them look at the pins in the axle. This may help.

Assuming your alignment is still good, what are your air pressures in your tires? You can fix it by underinflating the opposite side to where the car pulls.

First, be sure to balance the tire pressure in all tires and ride with it a couple days to be sure it's not tire pressure inequality that causes the pull to right.

If it still pulls to the right, be aware that Ewing in Dallas says that alignment specs are set to allow SLIGHT pull to the right, in order to keep you out of oncoming traffic. That's their story and they like to stick with that. So, if it pulls SLIGHTLY, I'm not sure Ewing will do anything about it.

But if you had your alignment done elsewhere and are not satisfied, definitely take it back to the dealer that did the initial alignment and ask that they "do it over," setting it to your "neutral" preference. Be sure to mention "do over," because normally you can have only one free alignment in the first year of ownership.

Let us know what transpires.

I heard that Acura TLs don't have alignment issues.

This is a fairly common problem here. Bob's got good advise in his post.

LOL....no more freaking Honda's vs. Benz's debates.....gah...they get old. I heard Acura TL's can also wipe for you after you take a crap, AND take the dog out for walks!

Hmmm, it does pull slightly, but that's the lamest story I've ever heard. Why would Ewing make such a claim??? I'm taking it to Park Place tomorrow; I got Steve to help me out. I actually took it to Ewing the first time......I should've known better than to let them "fix" it. Everytime I go to Ewing it's been nothing but bad experiences and bad service.

stop hitting potholes!
alignments are not under warranty unless there is a problem with the suspension.
my dealer charges $200 for one.

Do you mean changing the crash bolts during the alligment?

Anyway, anyone knows what recommended specs for F&R allignment setting for a lowered car with 19" ?

I had the pulling right issue at about 9000 miles, brought it in to the dealer and they installed a "camber kit" - best of all, it was covered under the warranty.

Its been common practice for years to make the cars drift slightly to the right, and yes, it was to keep drowsy drivers from drifting into oncoming traffic. With american roads so damn straight and flat, its no surprise.

Also, on a Benz, IIRC, the cars wheels are slightly toe out, which makes them a little edgier, and prone more to pulling. It supposedly makes the car react quicker to steering input...

when my car had the Continental tires that came with it, the car used to pull to the right, slightly. Then them tires wore out and I switched to Bridgestone and now it drives straight like an arrow.

Outland, is it the car that forces the rightward drifiting or the crown of the road?
