I have a 2003 C230K coupe. I have a stock radio w/ 6-disc cd changer. I want to install a flip out dvd/nav screen in the extra space. I searched this forum and couldn't find much info on the subject. whats this going to cost me and what do you recommend. I would love to see the pics of own set up if you got it. I'm in the SoCal area and would also like some recommendations for installers.

Dvd/nav will start at about $1,200ish. Quite honestly, I think Mercedes sedans look a bit "ricey" with a flip screen. I'd recommend honestly going with an in-dash set up. I got a quote from my local shop for the Pioneer AVIC-D2 in-dash dvd/nav system installed for $1,400 (with the dvd drive because it's not immediately dvd accessible). Also, you won't be able to access any dash buttons when you have the screen up and the motor will eventually have problems and you'll have to replace it, just go the classy route from the start.

 

get COMAND, A/V adapter from MBenzNL and DVD player.
prolly cost bit more than aftermarket solution, but well worth it!

 

do you have any pictures of what this COMMAND/ aux imput looks like? sorry I'm a new guy here and I'm not the techniqual. oh and who is MbenzLN?

 

MBenzNL is probably the best source of OEM Mercedes parts and knowledge at this site...maybe even in the world. Search the forum for "w203 comand MBwnzNL". His prices are fair, his installations camn near perfect, and well worth considering if you're thinking about aftermarket.

 

Is he in California? Close to orange county or I would be willing to drive up to LA. I've been doing some research and it seems like these command units will cost 1,700.

Any way that you can put it in the lower cubby hole? That way you have access to turn off your ESP system.
