1/4 Mile Times - 06 C230 ?

Has anyone with a 2006 C230 been to the track (either stick or auto)? I'm just curious what these cars are supposed to run.

that is because our c230's aren't anything special concerning 1/4 or 1/8 mile strips. once you've been in a more powerful car and went on like the autobahn this becomes just boring.

get a $99 flight (one way) to germany ... rent some nice car and go on the autobahn ... -> life time experience ...

Since when is a flight to Germany from Florida $99 one way?

The cheapest I've seen was London for $499 roundtrip. Frankfurt is usually always more expensive than London. I'm from CA, going non-stop on a Boeing 777 on United Airlines.

You could go to LA Raceway and find out http://www.lacr.net/ or get one of those gizmos that calculates your 1/4 mile ET and 0-60 like the G-Tech.

You can get a g-tech on ebay for like 30 bucks or less these days. Its very repeatable when used properly- and the times are pretty accurate- despite the bashing everyone likes to give them. Figure a little quicker than you would be at the strip due to reaction time and rollout not being timed on the gtech.

I'd guess the 06 is a low 16 second car....8+ to sixty...nothing to be thrilled about...my old Saturn could knock down high 15s with just 124HP. Car is too heavy, thottle response is poor, and the torque comes on later in the power band than it did on both the supercharged engined C230's.

But hey, you got loads of refinement, right?

check out www.condor.com. they sometimes have airfares for $119 (sorry i meant 99 euros before + fees) and when your lucky you can get the same one back. i travel to germany at least twice a year and never pay more than $450 for a roundtrip. last winter it was $225 + fees during season.

just go there during oktoberfest .. and you wont just have an experience on the autobahn .. lol

You MUST be speaking about the A/T. The 3 pedal version is definitely quicker than that (if you flog it that is)

I'm not of legal drinking age (at least not in the US). Besides, not a big fan of beer.

I'm thinking that I will consider doing a European Delivery for my next car, assuming that it is cheaper (sometimes it isn't). If it continues to be a German vehicle, then I will attempt to drive it around in its native habitat (can't really go full speed on the autobahn since the car's in break in however).

According to the Mercedes-Benz website, the Manual version is 8.0 seconds and the Automatic version is 8.5 seconds for the 2006 C230.

For the 2005 C230 Kompressor, there were mixed reviews. I remember clearly for the automatic version, the brochure (US Spec brochure) said 7.8 seconds and the website (MBUSA) said 7.5 seconds. For manual, if memory serves me correctly is 7.3 seconds.

I've driven both the 05 and the 06 C230. Personally, I like the more civilized 06 C230 on the city roads, however, on the highway roads, the 7 gear transmission always has to downshift 2 gears in order to provide passing power. The 05 C230 never really had to downshift.

Another thing that I thought was funny. The 06 C230 has 12 more hp than the 05 C230 Kompressor. It also has 11 lb/ft less torque. Seriously, what is Mercedes doing?

Both cars are great, hardly any difference in my opinion. To be entirely honest, I thought the 06 C230 was faster when I test drove it until I looked at the specs.

2014 C250 sport
Most likely low 16's for the quarter mile. I dont own a C230, but I've had them as loaner cars, and while they aren't as slow as a C240, they still don't have much zip. I have an '06 C280 loaner right now, and I find the power to be just right. IMO they should have the 280 available as a sport too, it would be perfect.

That's what I was thinking it should run, just from the butt-o-meter. It's very weak off the line, but with a brake stand and a 3000rpm jump, I was thinking high 15's. It definitely needs more power.

Great transmission though. I simply adore the 7 speed.

Uh, why? They are both slow. If you want a drag car buy something else.

I gotta disagree with those that say not to drag the car. There are different kinds of mod enthusiasts. Some like the power enhancing aspect. Some like the interior mods. Some like the audio aspect. I personally could care less about someone putting on a different door pin, foot pedals, wings, etc. But i will never put them down for doing it. I still check out the posts, still enjoy their work and support the enthusiasm. Its in in poor sport to have the above attitude. Dismissal is not apathy, its just plain rude. While I have had a comment or two that voiced my dislike of a mod, it only came when someone deliberately asked for commentary.

When I bought my coupe I was in love with the shape. Keeping the shape I'm working to get the car some power. While I'm going in the right direction, I think this car's engine has more power to give. Next up for me is a New exhaust header back. Allready sourced my muffler and intermediate pipe. Now I just need the Header. Are you going to tell me I'm working on the wrong project?

White W203, I too notice that I actually drive slower now that I have some more power in the car. I do take on the odd little skirmish, but now, I'm a bit low key about it all.

If you thought i was rude well that's your problem, I was telling the truth. I'll never tell anyone they are working on the wrong project unless they are really concerned about 1/4 miles times and they have a C230, then I'd tell them maybe they should mod a different car. I've had some fast cars and now I have a C230 and I love it. I'm sure I'll do some mods but no matter what I do to it, it will always be slow. So what if you get a few extra hp from your new exhaust your car will still be slow, however i'm sure it will sound better so that's a bonus and that's what i'm looking into. Buying a C230 for it's 1/4 mile times is like buying an evo for it's nice interior.

I find it to have just enough power.
I had 01 WRX then 02 Legacy
Less than WRX more than Legacy... so I am happy.
