As one of my co-workers once said, "Lexus is as exciting as a 10-button calculator". IMO, they are made for people who like comfort and don't like to drive per se.

I considered the GS. My parent's neighbor owns a Lexus dealership and will give us cars at cost (my dad bought an RX300 from him at cost. He has 70,000 miles on the RX and absolutely loves it, and my dad has hated every car he's owned since the '50's. I don't care much for it, but oh well).

The GS is pretty expensive. My C was something like $32K. Even at cost, even the smaller GS was still quite a bit more. Lexus makes very smooth, reliable, high quality cars, but they are not the bargain they were in 1991.

Its a nice car, I guess, but it is pretty bland. It is definately very Japanese in character, both in interior and exterior styling, and in driving fee.. Which isn't bad, just different, and it was not for me.

I kind of view Lexus as a car for people who aren't really interested in cars, but want a "nice" car. People like my parents.

(My parents have mostly driven BMWs over the years, which have been good cars, although not "Lexus reliable," or Lexus smooth and quiet.)

I test-drove the GS 300, and it was my least favorite, besides maybe the ES 300.

I thought it lacked power, as well as response. I disliked the interior styling (and the exterior styling, for that mater).

BTW, these are the cars that I test-drove...

BMW 325ci, 330ci, 530i
Mercedes-Benz C320, SLK230K, C230K
Audi S4
Lexus GS 300, ES 300
Acura 3.2CL Type S

No, but I do have a GS and an E. I like 'em both, but they seem totally different. I certainly do have a lot of fun in them both though.
