Question Cat Back Exhaust ?

Looking under my car last night I see that the exhaust on my C7 coupe consists of a long pipe and muffler that bolt on just after the catalytic converter, since the C7 does not have a resonator. Does anyone sell a bolt on exhaust system from the cat back. C7 owners could easily upgrade their mufflers with no cutting, and non C7 c-class owners could bolt on to replace both the resonator and muffler.

My remus exhaust is a bolt on but not with the bolts at the cat. Its a bolt on with a small down pipe that all u need to do is cut the existing pire a little before the cat and just bolt it on. And i do have the C7 package.

So you've got no cat, no reso, and a straight thru muffler?

I'd have to imagine it sounds raspy as he... er, ah, it's probably not the most refined exhaust note on the block???

I’d prefer to keep the Stock Catalytic Converter, and just change the exhaust after the cat. I’d also prefer to not have to cut any tubing, but it sounds like no bolt on Exhausts exist for the C230K coupes.

Does the remus sound "ricey" or does it sound like a tuned car? deeper sound but still not too loud.

I have a Brabus cat-back system - bolt on with the standard flange just after the cat. It is very low, throaty sound, not loud (unless you really get on it, then it is still pretty subtle). Definately NOT RICEY!

All that said, it is ~$1350 for the system!, but the fit and finish are top-drawer.

Sounds like what I am looking for. A little pricey since most others run ~ $700. Is it completely SS.

As far as I have been told, it is painted (black) Stainless. Only the tips are polished.

Is the factory exhaust stainless? It's magnetic, but that doesn't always mean it's not stainless.

My guess is that it's plain steel - stainless is relatively expensive for something about which most people don't care. Pretty much anything with enough iron it it will be magnetic.

no i never said anything about not having a cat. i have no resonaor just because the C7 package. The exhaust i have is very quiet not loud at all. During normal driving u can even tell its there. When u accelerate its a nice deep throuty sound especually when u floor it. And its definitly a refined sound some people probally think its to quiet.

it sounds very much like a tuned car not ricey at all. Its quiet only when u floor it it sounds awsome very throughty and deep. but just normal acceleration it just sounds over all better. some people might not even notice.

edvpt -
What i have is considered a bolt on exhaust. here is a pic. before it was put on my car.

I guess your comment about cutting the pipe a little before the cat is what threw me. in fact your muffler clamps on quite a ways after the cat...

white and whiter
i think that the mod company like Brabus, Lorinser, Carlsson, AMG, etc that specialize in MB will have those bolt on type you are talking about. though it will be more expensive.

the Remus that BlackC230coupe uses are actually pretty good and not pricy. Some might think Remus might sound "rice", but that sound is for their product on the japanese imports not German imports.

i have only heard one other remus exhaust on a acura legend and it was a little louder than mine not really ricey but mine sounds like its tuned better. and its not loud at all but deep and throuty when it needs to be.

since remus makes lots of Exhauts for other cars like the japanese cars some of those might not sound as good.
