1st problems!!!

I booked my car in because the radio reception (audio10) has not been consistent since I got the car, also after reading about it...I checked the padding on the underside of the bonnet (hood)and mine also had a hole worn...caused by a hose connector facing up,I asked them to check out by remote lock/unlock sensitivity because It does not operate unless I'm within about 4 feet, the car pulls to the left and the carpet lining up the rear wheel arch is not fitted too securely....
......all sorted no problem...BUT...they have to replace my rear window because the radio problem is aerial related ( I guessed as much)and they also say the remote problem is also to do with the rear screen!!!!
....The pick-up for the remote is in the door,so what has the window got to do with it?????....I will ask them when they do the work, but any of you guys know?
....Do you think I have anything to worry about?.....bearing in mind I'm having a window replaced?

The sensor in the door is the short range infrared sensor for the "outside the car, windows down" feature. There is also a longer range anntenna that operates off of radio frequencies - I guess this is in the rear window as well (likely just shares the radio antenna).

Window work usually isn't a big deal - the dealer should do a good job, I wouldn't worry about it.

Cheers, BT

I have the same problem on the left rear.

My car goes in next week for the drivers side door seal replacement and replacement of the windshield washer bottle filler tube/neck. They broke this during Service A and I had to point it out to them.

I will enjoy driving the 2002 E320 4Matic loaner.

Don't forget to ride it hard and report back to us what it feels like, and any kills you made with the 4Matic.

Lightbulb it might be the door alignment

regarding the door seal, it might be the door alignment. Our C240 had the seal replaced twice because it would get pinched by the two doors on the pillar (driver's side). After some time looking and measuring I figured the door was not aligned in the same way as the drivers side. I mentioned this to the service writer and they fixed it. So far a bit more than a month and no pinching, so I guess that fixed it.

Don't let them just put vaseline type grease on your seal. That was the first thing they did, and all it did was get my shirt dirty and the the interior with oily finger prints.

hope this helps...

Keys are RF and IR

My keys never worked via RF and only worked from about 4 feet direct line of sight. After a couple of visits and removing the headliner they replaced the rear antenna amplifier. Now all is well. Keys work from about 40-50 feet.

If radio spotty and RF out for keys, then they are on the correct track to solve your problem.

i also noticed that when i'm facing the front of the car, i need to get close to about 20 feet in order to arm it, but when i'm facing the rear of the car, i can arm it from a much longer distance.

Richard this is probably more of a private message type question but as you asked here I bought the car from Malaya in Bromley...Now run by Mercedes...part of the restructure to have new Mercedes only sold by them...so they are carrying out my waranty issues...so far so good all my niggles sorted first time (except for not having a rear screen in stock)....where do you use?

Greenoaks - Specifically Greenoaks of Ascot and their service centre which is in Bracknell - the staff used to be Sunningdale Carriage Co, before the re-organisation ..
