I just bought a 2004.5 c230 and the cd player is hit or miss with cd-rs.

they play about 20% of the time and the other 80% it tries to read and finally says NO-CD.

could it be the types of CD-Rs that I'm using or is the cd player unable to read these CDS?

My dads 96 Maxima also couldnt play CDRs but my brothers 95 Lexus ES would so Im not sure if its the CDs or the actual player that is having the problem.

There was no OEM option for a 6 CD indash changer in the c-class in your 04.5; only glovebox. Therefore you'll need to provide pics, name and model if you want to have any chance of finding an answer.

im guessin his 04.5 has 6 disc indash, and it DOES NOT PLAY CD-RWs, I tried a few times already, and finally upgraded to Pioneer MP3 6disc changer with AVICN2 Navi

I hvae an 06 and sometimes it won't play cd-r's also. Usualy if you eject it, rotate teh disk a little then reinsert it it plays just fine.

Now what mine does not do is play mp3 cds even tho it is supposed to

The audio 10 is hit or miss with CD-Rs. Some burners and some CD-R disks work, others don't, tried a few now, will go out and check the car to see which brand of CD-R worked since I forget.

Nope. 2004.5 doesn't have an in dash 6 disc. It's in the glove box just like all the others. And, I've had no problems with playing any cd-r's in my changer whatsoever.

amdeutsch, I'm a little suspicious. Did you already check this one?

i meant in the glovebox. it played one cdr this morning, i changed cds to test it out and now it wont play it again. is there a certain brand of CDR that will work better?

I know my cd player for some odd reason doesn't like sony cd's generally HP works fine but it also depends on the program (nero and real player seems to work the best), atleast in my car and my two cents

In my experience, Memorex has worked flawlessly (unless of course, there was a scratch or scratches on the cd). Are you trying to play cd-r's that have mp3 data files on them or did you burn them as wav files?

make sure they are CD-R's and not CD+R's and you'll stand a better chance of them working.
