The M111 really isn't that slow!

I'm always reading up on the racing threads and the kill stories and according to them I should be staying away from A4's, IS300's and 330i's... but lately I've been really doubting that.
I raced my friend's 330ci Performance a couple of weeks ago and to my surprise he didn't kill me. We went from a dig once and then bunch more time from a roll and I kept up with him the entire time. He might have got the lead from going earlier but he never pulled on me. I kept up with him the entire time. Shoulda seen how dissapointed he was after that. I know most of you guys will prob flame me with reasons but I also would like to let you know that the 330ci was a 6speed and it might have been the driver's fault. He also mentioned after that he shifted a little bit before redline while I just went all the way to the red. Either way I was expecting a lot more from that car.
Earlier today on my way back home an IS300 with an exhaust was trailing me. He kept pulling up next to me but wasn't doing anything while I was ready for it. So I slowed down thinking he wasn't going for it and the guy slowly pulls a little past me, downshifts and blasts off with no warning. I downshifted as fast as I could and gunned it but he was already about a car ahead. After that he stopped pulling on me and during a turn I think I actually got a bit closer. Unfortunetely my turn came up and I had to to call it quits .
The point that I'm trying to make is that I think that the M111 engines really have some potential to them. I haven't driven the new M271's so I have no basis of comparison. But from my experiences the M111 is able to keep up pretty well. I know all those cars on spec's should have killed me easily but that's not what happend. So just showing some M111 pride ... sadly the lease ends on June 23rd . Going to miss this car a lot.

sorry but i dont believe that you would keep up with a 330ci...you probably had a great advantage because you guys went from a dig, and from the looks of it your friend doesnt know how to properly launch the car. I've driven a 330 and they are pretty quick, not fast but quick, the M111 is not slow but isnt quick, its a decent powerplant for the car but i dont think its anywhere near a 330, thats my 2 cents i may be wrong

From a dig he did mess up, he got way too much tire spin. But we mostly went from rolls between 20-30mph. The 330ci is a 6speed so it all depends on how his shift were. It could just be that I hit my powerband earlier which starts at 3500rpms while his is up in the 4000's.
We will re-race in the future and we'll even switch cars to see if it is due to the drivers. I'm simply telling you guys what happend. I shall be out looking for a some 330i's though to see what happens.
