Performance Cams on W203

Hello, i want to ask those who have installed or done a camshaft modification on their M111 engine. Was the performance gain noticable? What brand of camshaft would you recommend and its characteristics. Does the everyday drivability compromise in anyway? Thank you very much for any helpful comments. I currently own a C200K with a Kleeman pulley set, custom exhaust system and a modified ecu. Thanks again.

Camshaft upgrade

Try the following compaines. I own an SLK230 but some of the C class shares the same engine as mine. Try Diblas and Schrick. When Renntech offered cams for my car they were 3K. Last year they stopped offering the cams and I called my contact there, Bob Brady. He told me that the one source for the cams in Germany no longer grinded those cams. Renntech claimed a 15hp gain from the cams.

In my case I am not going to take that as the deffinitive answer and I have a company in Oregon who I am going to use for custom cams. Most likley later this year as I have a custom exhaust, ported supercharger, fuel injectors, and a larger intercooler to buy and install before I go the cam route. I want to do the cams at the same time I am having the cylinder head ported.

Find a good highly recommended machine shop that can help you. Try Vaeth for your car.

vaeth.com/pages/c/c200k.php. They do not offer cams for your car but do have other products that can help you. Good Hunting!

Thanks a lot for your help Steve872 and thanks for recommending shops for me. However, I cant go to those shops because live in Bangkok Thailand haha. I think i will go for a Shrick Cams as you have recommended. The shop in Bangkok told me that Kleeman cams is way too expensive compare to Schrick cams. The Schrick cost about 1200to1500 US dollars installed, i am just worry about the liability and durability of the engine after the cam mods.
BTW, I am a little paranoid because a C200K cost 78,000 US dollars here in Thailand!! The government really tax the **** out of us here.

I have been to Pattaya Beach and Phuket. Wonderful places for me!!! I would recommend against having the cams put in your car. Being in Thialand puts a big downer on performance mods on your car. If I try something and it does not work I am right by numerous shops.

I bet you had a lot of fun in Pattaya and Phuket beaches..huhu Anyway, why would you not recommending a cam mod on my car? Would the hot weather effects the car? I don't understand what you mean.

In order to see the full potential of a set of custom cams you would need to upgrade your exhaust system, engine breathing ability such as a high flow air filter, etc. When I get my custom cams done by Oregon Camshaft I can ask about your cams. Do you have the cam info needed for this upgrade. Remember that if you throw enough money at the major tuners they might just get a set of cams for you. Eithter way you go it will cost money.

I would recommend a crank pulley, header, high flow muffler/cat, and maybe ECU tune. Then once you know your air fuel ratio is acceptable then a custom cam would be a great mod as I am going that route later this year. Good luck!

Yeah I already have all those pre-cam upgrades done. I don't have the cam profile but the local tuner told me that Schrick does offer cams for my c200k, so i guess i will go with Schrick cams. Thanks a bunch!
