2006 fitment rims?

2006 fitment rims?
Hello again...man im having a problem...i have been calling place after place and they all tell me that the c230 2006 brake calipers are too big to fit a regular style rim and that i need a "3 piece" but i have no idea what that means or what brands make those....why cant those companys just make rims that fit why do they make it more complicated.....

1 piece, 2 piece, 3 piece. 2 main types of metals used to make the rims (forged or cast iron).
1 piece rim is exactly as it sounds (all the metal is one piece formed into a wheel configuration)
2 piece rim is made of 1) the portion of the wheel that is surrounded by tire and 2) the center piece (what you see when looking at rims on a car).
3 piece rim is made of 1) Inside portion of the wheel, 2) outside portion of the wheel, and 3) the center piece.
You don't necessarily need a 3 piece rim to fit the front brake calipers, but you do need rims with the correct offset in order to work. You can find 1 piece rims that'll work, you just have to do the research.

But as others on here have already pointed out, offset is only part of the equation. The design to leave enough room to cover the increased rotor/caliber diameter also comes into play. Lets look at it this way;
1) Both wheels have the same OFFSET
2) Both wheels, maybe from different manufacturer's, use the same process
3) Wheel 1 is designed for x" of rotor/caliber clearence
4) Wheel 2 is designed for x+y" of rotor/caliber clearence to make allowance

Yeah, that's true amdeutsch, but the shop is tellin' the guy that he needs to get 3 piece rims in order to fit anything onto the car due to the front calipers. That's not necessarily the case. I was just trying to let him know that there are 1 piece rims that will fit over the stock front caliper, but just gotta do research first (including pre-fitment) before having to spend an extra 2 or 3 G's on 3 piece rims.
