Well, since I sort of started this, I feel compel to end the debate.
My wife and I did end up getting a c230 that was assembled in Germany. But our salesman surprised us with that, and we ended up buying at invoice (which I have since learned was quite a rip-off).
On the way to the dealership before purchase, my wife and I had already made up our mind to get a c230, assembled in Germany or Brazil. And everything I have read since indicated there is absolutely no difference. If nothing else, the ones made in South Africa or Brazil may actually be better.
If I were to get a c230 tomorrow, I would not even bother to see where it is made.
