02 C240 vs. 02/01 BMW 325i
I am trying to choose between these 2 cars for a lease to get on december 1st, tax free day in mass 
. I would appreciate people's opinions on their C240 automatic. Is the C240 faster than an ML320(which i currently have)? how is the regular leather compared to premium? What options should i consider? What should I expect to pay for a 36K miles 36mo lease per month? I also like the BMW but am not that fond of the freshened styling, but I did hear they improved the steering feel and did some chassis tweaks. Please help!

are you looking to get the 325xi at all? i have a 2001 325xi and i think it is a great car! i'm not too fond of the new headlights of the 2002's (but maybe it will grow on me).
anyway, some differences for 2002:
bmw has cd player standard and bi-level xenon is relatively reasonable. interior is very functional and relatively spartan (i like that). the steering changes mainly affected the early production 325s (not xi's). it still feels light to me but very responsive. i think the engine is smooth as silk! but just a tad relaxed (i have auto). lease residuals were like 52%.
mercedes has lots more little luxury/comfort stuff. smartkey makes the bmw key look primitive (even audi's flip out key is cooler). the residuals were like +64% when i looked at leases.
anyway, we went w/ the bmw at that time mostly b/c it has all-wheel drive. but the c-class really stuck in my mind. when the c230 coupe came out, it added just the right amount of sportiness (and i love the panoramic moonroof) for me to get that too!

Regarding the speed diference between the ML and the new C, the C240 is definitely faster than the ML320. We have a 98 ML320 and a 2001 C240. The C is a 6 speed so that may make it feel quicker than the auto version. I drive the C240 and when I hop in my wife's ML, I feel like I am in a boat.

do you need 4 doors?
the c230k is faster than the c240 by some margin and cheaper to?
however you do lose the silky six cylinder engine.
depepnds on how many traffic light grand prix you enter....
