The 325 was on the list originally, but after driving it we didn't like it. The ride was seemingly harsher than the C and the ergonomics were not good for us. Controls didn't seem well placed or logical, and were needlessly complex. The auto trans was rough and didn't seem to have that much more oomph than a 230. For $39K as equipped, it didn't seem worth it.
Yes, I'm basically trying to decide if a 350 is worth it. Or if a 280 is a reasonable substitue.

Well my mom's Passat was literally one of the first to arrive and still runs great no gear problems. Overall I garuntee VW has fixed any issues that i bet were not wide spread. Not to mention the 300C which my mother also owned before the Passat which is a great vehicle but that also had recalls with some mechanical issues although my moms was perfect. So just remember not all the Passats are messed up just like not all the 300C were either.
But again the 300C is a great car although I wouldnt buy one myself mainly because everyone has one now great car but I like being somewhat unique.

I was also faced with a similar dilemma. I was set on a 230 but my wife said get the 350. When I went back to the dealership the the next day the salesman showed me a 350 Sport that had everything that were options on the 230 plus the extra power. The extra power was worth it to me. Besides, not too many c350's on the road.

Thanks for the opinions and advice, everyone.
We've decided to go with a C-class instead of the Chrysler.
We're still trying to figure out which version of the C to get, but since we're in no particular rush, we might just wait a couple of months until there's a better variety of 07's out there to look at.
