Change options while in status B1?

I just put down a deposit on a 2003 C32 that is currently in B1 production status. My dealer said that he was not able to make any changes once the car went to "B" status. Doing a seach on this forum, I see that B1 means 13 days to production and the next code is B3 - No Changes Possible. Does this mean there is a way to add options prior to B3? Thanks for your help.

I ordered my car when it was at B1 also (back in mid-July) and the dealer was able to make changes. Major changes actually... Changed color, added option package C5 and the CD changer, and deleted the automatic trans and went back to stick.

The sales manager said that it was much easier to make changes when the car was in the "A's", but B1 changes were possible.

BTW- car was built 7/25 and is due to be delivered either tomorrow or Tuesday! Can't wait!!!

Thanks for the responce. Do you know what your dealer did to make the changes? I called my dealer this morning and he still said that they couldn't make any changes. I'll be happy with the C32 no matter what the installed options. I just figured since I was spending this much, what is a few $'s more. Oh well.

Sorry. Don't know what they did. I bought the car on a Saturday afternoon and all I know is that I had to wait 'till Monday to see if they were able to make the change.

What they explained to me is that once the cars hit B1 there is more hassle making changes and that some change are not possible, for instance... I tried to get heated seats in addition to the C5 package and they said no.

Sorry I can't be of more help. There is a dealer salesman on the east coast that is a forum regular (CME4BENZ).... I'm sure he could share details if you sent him a note.

you only can change options three weeks before production. after that is NO NO.

i know u r gonna be pissed, but same thing happened to me because the sales forgot to inform me three weeks before the car went into production. otherwise i would've been using the Command system now.
