is it safe to drive with 1 spacer?

ok, i have a 2003 C320 coupe with 19" wheels. 2 weeks ago i hitted a pothole and the front left rim got bended! so i decided to get a new rim, but i got a differnet style rim then the ones already on the car. it has ET 37 and it touching my front left caliper! so the shop putted a spacer on it. so is it safe to drive with 1 spacer? and what about the handling?

First off, Why did you get 1 different style wheel? Doesn't that look a bit odd? I'd say you are in greater danger of getting strange looks than a wheel falling off because of a spacer.

Seriously, that's a bummer about the bent wheel. Why did you not get a matching wheel?

i got a different style because i like the new style better, it got bigger lip! or maybe i get used to the old one and getting bored. haha
i thinking next time i have another rim bended, i just replace it with the new style again.. i just need 3 more rim bended to get a complete set of new style! haha

Okay, I've regained my composure. One spacer is fine as long as it's not over 8-10mm in size and also hub centric or you'll find yourself with vibration issues between 50-65mph depending on the ressonance. If you go bigger than that be sure to get a bolt on hub centric spacer.

Fortunately this isn't an opinionated subject. It's perfectly safe..as long as it's aligned correctly...it'd just look retarded.

Im sure the new wheel is a different weight, possibly a different width, and definately has a newer or perhaps completely different type of tire. All these will have adverse affects on the handling of the car? To what degree no one knows.

Think of it as driving your car with a spare tire but the affect is not as severe.
