Bulb switch, battery drain?
I had nothing but problems from the day i got the C230K C-cup.
Yestoday i was driving and the cars display showed, left brake light needed to be changed. I changed it and everything was ok. I park the car, and came back 10 hours later to go to work, and the cars battery is almost totally dead. It could start, but it was a strange start surely it was a battery drain. I did not forgot to turn off any lights or the radio or anything, so i dont understand why it came to this? - Many faults come up when i start it now, they are caused by the battery.
I got a friend over and we plugged his battery to my, and we jumped the car, and it worked PERFECT, no faults at all...
Could i have damaged something and made some kinda short when i change the brake bulb?
I have searched the forum, but nothing seems to be like my problem, i have read about the seat module for some cars, but my car is manual for the seats so this is ruled out...
I dont want to change the battery before i am sure its the battery that is old and causing the problem.. Well to get back to what happend, i drove the car 2 hours to charge the battery, then i turn it off, and try to turn it on to be sure the battery is charge... and it does it again! 2 hours of driving DID NOT charge the battery....
I am very confused, what can this be?
Thank you all!
1)The battery is old and will no longer hold a charge--This can be tested at a shop.
2)The alternator is shot and will not charge anything. This can also be tested.
I had a '93 that suddenly went dead. I could jump it but it would only go about 10 miles before everything went dead, even the brake lights and finally all the engine electonics as I coasted into a garage. MB shipped a replacement alternator on a bus to the location. Never had a problem after that and did not have to replace the battery.
