Noise from AC compressor

Noise from AC compressor
I have a 2006 C230 2.5 with approximately 7500 miles. I rarely use the AC, but have noticed that the overall cabin noise is a bit more with the AC running. It's almost like a subdued howl emenating from the engine bay, increasing in volume as the engine speed rises. It's perceptible at low speeds, but hardly noticeable above 35 mph. No unusual noises from the blower or anything inside the cabin. If the AC is turned off, the howl gradually fades away. With the car stopped, hood open, and AC running, I'm at a loss to detect any unusual noises emenating from the compressor. The noise has been discernable since the car was new, and the cooling performance of the unit is fine.

2007 C230!!
wow. A lot of AC complaints lately. My blower was replaced on my 04. It made a whistle when the AC was on high. It blew fine. And cold. But made a loud noise...they fixed it right away. I was scared they would tell me they couldn't find a problem. But they seemed to know right away. I bet it's your blower.
