The Audio 30 APS is very similar to the Becker Traffic Pro which will soon be available in the US as the Harman Kardon Traffic Pro. The main differences are that the Audio 30 is specifically made for the MB, so the steering wheel controls will work using CANBUS, and the Alpine cd-changer can be used via the D2B protocol. I have been thinking about getting the Audio 30 myself, but I don't know if the cd-rom's for the US are available yet.

Hey I like that alot better than the Audio 10. I've only seen pictures of the Audio 10 but I still can't figure out where the preset station buttons are. I really like having 10 preset stations, wish i had just one more. Anyway, the Audio 30 is a sh*t load more expensive. Does it do anything special that the Audio 10 doesnt.

It is a GPS navigation system. It has a fairly large internal memory so you can load the nav info from the cd-rom, then remove the cd-rom and insert your cd for music. You can then navigate happily to your desination while enjoying you favorite music.

From what I understand, they only make nav CDs for the APS 30 for Europe. The APS30 is one of the key reasons that there are Audio 10s for sale on Ebay.

Unless you use navigation a lot in your MB you may want to go with a PC based navigation system. You can get an inexpensive mini laptop on ebay for about $200 (I got a nice Toshiba Portege for $225) and get a Rand McNally navigation kit for about $129 and you have a great portable navigation system with a large screen that you can move from car to car. I know you can get portable or Palm based systems for about the same but they have teeny screens that are hard to read while driving. At least you can use the laptop something else if you get bored with GPS navigation.

Because the Becker (Harman Kardon) Traffic Pro and the Audio 30 APS use the same navigation system, I believe they should be able to use the same cd-rom's. The US cd-rom's won't be available until Harman Kardon starts selling the Traffic Pro here.

On the right hand side of the unit, there is a cross-shaped control, similar to the one around the power/volume knob on your current cassette unit. Each "arm" is a preset, cycling through the bands selects either 1-4 or 5-8.

Does 755 Euro (which is US$755) for a stock unit sounds a bit too much?

So how does it work as a navigation system? That screen doesn't look any bigger than the screen on the Audio 10. Or does it just announce the directions? Sorry I'm a real dumb *** when it comes to these things. I wish I'd of gotten the Command System but 2 grand I couldn't justify since I wanted it only for aesthetic reasons. But $750 doesn't sound bad, especially if it'll sound as good as the Audio 10 (I've read that its alot better). Thanks Alot

Driving instructions are announced and shown on the little screen. There are demos on the the site I posted above for the Harman Kardon Traffic Pro.

That on will not fit in a W203/CL203. I have found those that do not fit are usually cheaper than the Audio 30 APS which does fit in our cars.

Hey I was just checking that german website and I found the

Becker APS 30 W203 Original MB

Picture is the same and its selling for 1299.00 Euro. So $750 sounds like a fu*king bargain.

Weird thing is that the Command System with the screen sells for 1550.00 Euro.

So is there a way to install the Command System?

If I remember correctly the APS30 is even more expensive in Germany, something like 2000 euros. Personally I think the command is much better and just a little bit more expensive than the APS30.

It is perfectly possible to install command but you have to activate it at the dealer before it will work.
