W203 (sold), W204 (sold), W124
I just went to MBUSA to look up 03 prices for the C240/C320.
The MSRP for the C240 is $30,565, and the C320 is 35,865 for a difference of $5,300. To add the Power seat pkg to the C240 (standard in the C320) is an additional $1,250. Premium sound (also standard in the C320) is $625. This brings the difference down to $3,425.
Auto tranny (not standard in either for 03) is an additional $1,325, and Tele Aid (also not standard in either) is an additional $775.

looking for the UD pulley
Hello I would be interested in getting some more information on the pulleys you spoke of for c240. Is there more than one pulley? If so are the 15hp you speak of for one pulley or more than one? Whats would be installation just a simple replacement of pulleys or more?
thanks

OGR, welcome to the forum. That post was made in 2002. The under drive pulleys will cost you a good chunk of money. A better investment for power would be an ECU tune.
There is a company called Eurocharged who is running a special. They will get you 17hp and 15tq for $165.00.
You will need to ship them your ECU or you can purchase their tuning cable which is 100 dollars and they can remotely tune it for you or you can ask to purchase one cheaper from a member who bought the cable or they might even be nice enough to let you borrow it.
You can find out more details here.

ECU
thanks KARO I am new to the forum, but have owned the car for 6 years now, I always wanted to upgrade but did nothing while I had waranty. Now that the waranty ran out I have been looking to upgrade and have found limited or no mods that don't cost more than another car. I was thinking of doing the pulleys because of what I read on them at 500.00 this still might be an option, but I thank you for your info on the ECU upgrade. would you know any other true HP gain mods I thought I would start wil the ECU and pulleys and maybe then get a complete exhaust. I wanted a supercharger, but thats out of my price range as most everything cost over 8000.00. I have an oppertunity to purchase a c32 motor for 5k but the mods needed to make that work is too much would you or anyone you know have any information if the c32 supercharger would bolt onto a c240?
Again thanks for the ECU info I will try to get that done I hope it's still 165.00

2003 Mercedes C240
The perfect experimental klasse...
It is clear that most people here agree that the 2.6 liter has very little available to them in the category of upgrade options. I too have looked long and hard. It's possibly also true that there are a lot more of them on the road than the other "sought after" models like the C230 ss, the C32 and C55.
Many here believe it sacrilegious to alter these models as well.
Heck, there are people here that believe that any Mercedes is sacred...
Necessity is the mother of invention. If there are no other alternative available to you then I've always believed that thinking outside of the box is a way to go. I see many hybrid inventions lurking around and I'm almost certain that purists will mock and scorn. I'm starting to believe that it is exactly what these forums are for.
Bean counters and the like will be the first to call it stupid and a waste of time and money. Who cares...
I love the hobby and I love to tinker (don't bother with your daily driver).
There was some guy in Texas that put a Mercedes V8 in a W203 and made it work. Another guy in L.A. has an American LS1 in an Infinity G35.
There are guys putting American late model V8 engines in everything from Mazda Miatas to Porsche 911s.
One thing I noticed about a lot of these auto forums is that there are always going to be more people telling you not to do something than there will be people that are truly interested in the result. Wasn't it the same with that 'world is flat' theory?
The Shelby AC Cobra wouldn't have been built with that ideology. It's not orthodox but so what?
I am currently trying to research putting a C55 or equivalent engine in my c class.
I would much rather put in a late model Corvette LS engine. I think it's fun, and it would be one hell of a ride and I don't care about resale value.
Here come the shoo flies.
