2002 Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor Sports Coupe
ecu chipz ?
hey guyz and galz whazz up... i am wondering about this ecu chip i found.. it is called " alpha tuning chip" for $1100.. i need an opinion, if i should get it..
it will raise the hp on the c230k 2002 sports coupe to 238
and the torque to 242lbs..

Are you refering to the Wetteraur mod for the C230? There's no chip, it's a pulley, fuel pump mod and intake. Nobody I've seen on any forum has installed it on a C230 Coupe and that's odd because it was one of the first pulley kits available for the coupe.
The only chip that I know of for the coupe is the Upsolute. Also Renntech and GIAC are working/testing their chips.

An interesting twist on ECUs
Hello,
I am sorry to report that we do not have a chip for any of the Kompressor
engine Mercedes models. When a chip is installed the engine runs very lean,
and we have not been able to write the software to our satisfaction. The
last thing we want is carbon buildup in your engine, and possible damage. I
would not expect us to have a chip anytime in the near future. Thank you for

I just called the service advisor requesting to change the ECU setting to Stage 2. She asked why and I told her that I'm going to change to a bigger pulley. She said cool but threatening that changing the ECU setting could potentially void my warranty.
Her reason was that if there is engine problem I can always put back the factory pulley before taking back to service, but the ECU setting is something I cannot change myself so they will know my car is modded. What should I do?

I would have them do it and not tell them what it's for. What are the odds that they can tie an engine failure to an ECU option on an unmodified ECU. If they ask, say your buddies did it and the car runs better.

They will know because when they pull up the service record in the future they'll see it was me ordered the change. Unless I tell the advisor not to put this onto the record and have the tech do the change at after hours. Possible??

Forget about the ECU setting for now, every dealer around my area I called refused to do it. They claim it being illegal.
So maybe when I come down to So Cal next time I'll have Buell's dealer at Laguna Niguel to make the change for me.
