'06 C230 vs. '93 Accord w/ H22A
Today, I was given a 2006 C230 SS with auto trans as a loaner from the local dealer, so I thought I test it out to see how it would fare against my brother's 1993 Accord with a H22A Prelude engine with auto trans. His Accord have an intake, header, and exhaust system. From a standing red light, in "S" mode with traction control switched off, I was left in the dust....about 3-4 feet behind his tail lights when we both hit the brake at 85mph. We both had a clean jump. Later that afternoon, I picked up my 2005 C230 SS w/ auto trans and decided to do the same run from the same red light. The result....my brother's Accord was 3-4 feet behind my tail lights when both hit the brake at 85mph. Again, my car was in "S" mode and with traction control switched "off"...also both had a clean jump. Though we only did one run each, I can personally conclude that: 2006 C230 SS is slower than the 2005 C230 SS from 0-85mph.
I wish I could've raced my '05 vs. the '06 for a direction comparison, but since it was a loaner, it wasn't possible. Now, I'm expecting some of you guys will say this and that like all '05 vs. '06 debate, but all I can say is that the '06 is a heavier car with less torque. And the race showed it.

don't the 05's and the 06's automatics have a different tranny? ANd haven't there been about 6 gazzilion threads about folxs complaining about thee new 7 speed tranny? Don't ya think that might have some impact on your findings?
BTW: Try running against an 06 with 3 pedals. I bet there will be a word of difference

I also had a 06' loaner and I thought that off the start it felt faster then my 05' but the 7 speed auto tranny shifts way too fast, I think, for the engine to use its full power. i definitly like the sound of the v6, but I'd take my 05' any day...I felt like the 06' was lacking top end power, but it was still nice to drive and even though my 05' isn't a race car, I feel like a race car driver behind the wheel and its a Benz so who can really complain...

dont under estimate hondas, but anyway 7speed auto versus 4speed auto makes a difference too. the 06 auto is very slow, but 6-speed is another story.

well ..the thing is .. 93 accord .is light as hell .. and with a 200 hp and 200 tq enigne on that car .. that thing would be running at about high 15... im guessing .... h22A engine are reallly heavy but its got enough power on straight .. try taking the accord / benz to track ect. bet u anything the bens will win alot..
h22a eninge are made for prelude only kind of thing, so only a prelude can hold the weight and pwer inorder it not to mess up the handling ..
now that ur bro has a h22a in the accord the handling must be very poor, due to the heavy engine..
i raced my buddys new prelude 2wice and i beat it by about 1-2 car length. with my 02 c230 SC... then i raced my others buddies 06 SS and that car is stright up SLOOWWWWWW . beat it more than 10 car length off the bat np .. but im sure its fast on highway when the V6 kick in ...

06 c230 v6 SS
an h22a is a strong motor esp. with I/H/E...id bet on that over an 06 any day...but i bet if the v6 had a little modding done as well it would stay level..

wonder if simply a sprint booster would be as little a mod just to hang with a H22A? Seems to be that simple. And from rants and raves, it [sprintbooster] is a great mod... That probably why i'm considering it, heh.

LOL! What does that have to do with anything?
Yeah, I can see the Honda winning. I kind of feel like Mercedes should have given the C230 much more power, that'll hopefully be revised when they introduce the W204 models; however, I remember reading a post from a kid who couldn't believe he lost to a Jetta while driving his Benz. And unfortunately for the C230, Mercedes substituted performance for looks (AMG Sport Kit). But then again, at the end of the day, it's not about who's got the faster car -- it's about who's got the better car, and I think that when you compare a new Accord to a C230, 95% of the people would take the C230.

true...id take a c230 over a accord. i also wondered about the sprint booster...the v6 has terrible lag until 2,500-3k. its weird tho, b/c i raced a 05 c230k coupe from a redlight on a road that goes 55 speed limit., i brake launched at 1,200k and we were neck and neck and after 4th gear i started to pull half a car and felt i was gonna walk, but i had to brake at like 75-80 due to cars ahead. i think it jus depends, they are fairly close...but i also have k/n's and a straight pipe.
