Call roadside assistance. They come out immediately and replace your battery for the cost of the battery (only). If you bring it to the dealer, they charge you labor for the installation.

The battery may not be charging because it has a bad cell (like mine had). I went to the dealer, bought a new battery and the parts guy told me that Roadside would have installed it for free.
If it's an alternator, thats a whole other ball game, but roadside asssistance can test to see if the charging system is working AFTER they install a known good battery. The dealer will run the same test....and batteries are not covered under warranty.

Why do you think it is the alternator?. If you charge the battery with a charger and it goes dead sitting for 2 days then your battery is bad. If you are jump starting the car when you find it dead and then you can drive it around and it restarts o.k., your alternator must be charging the battery up.
Sounds like you have a bad battery.

Or you might have a persistant current drain/short, one of my seat controllers is draining the battery overnight, just started happening one day and flattens both the 4yr old battery I had and the new MB one I replaced it with

turned off while at a stop light (alternator?)
hey im new to this forum and i was wondering if someone can help me out. I was at a light and all of a sudden my car shut down and the "battery/alternator interrupting..." thing popped up but then disappeared in seconds so i couldnt read what else it said. Anyway so i tried starting the car again and it started. first thing i did when i got home i checked the alternator and it was reading at alittle over 13V. normally it should read at 14v right?. Then i checked the battery life and that was reading at 12. something V and then i press load and it dropped down to 11. something V ( i have the alternator/battery reader) Im wondering what it could be because if it was the alternator. The car wouldnt turn back on right? after it shut down. PLEASE help me with this issue.

When the car is on it should read about 14.4v. When it is off it should be about 13.2v (6 cells at 2.2 volts per cell). If the voltage is higher when the car is on it is probably a good sign that the alternator is working. Also since the alternator/battery light did not come on it is probably working. As far as the warning you got I do not know about it. Did your device say the battery was bad? I recommend having the battery checked at Checker or Autozone their tester may be better than yours. It does seem that the battery may fine. At least this we start to reduce the number of potential issues.
I got a check engine light the other day then it went off. This error you have may not return again. With the computer controls sometimes they see things and then they wont see them again. Good luck.
