Interesting Discussion
Heres what some non Mercedes-BMW owners think on which make is better, kinda interesting. Most of their points are wrong, but still interesting.

car audio forum.............and they are talking about CARS.....not audio stuff..
i think they have too much time on their hand......
and had they never heard about Benz performance cars? M3s are great and all but Benz produces same line or cars as M3s....
personally i like the M55 for the Benz SUV model.....it's niceeeeeeee

Benz performance is different from BMW performance; not worse, but just marketed for a different audience. You know, women.

They aren't all that keen on cars...
One post is comparing a 740 to the E Class....it should be to the S.
Another one (or two) state that Mercedes has the fastest SUV...that would be Lamborghini.

I think the whole debate is been overshadowed by a couple of big egos on that forum.
Anyway, I also agree that BMs are better performers but speed isn't everything. I think those that favour BMs are basing their argument on speed alone.
IMHO I don't think the performance differential between BMW and Merc is large enough to rate the BMW as a <i>far better</i> performer (but obviously that statement is coming from a MB owner).
At least everyone agrees on one thing: The SL55 AMG is a kickA$$ car in a league of its own!
