2005 C230WZ SS Capri Blue/Ash
Opinion: Pwr Seats or COMAND

Hi Everyone,
I am still in my search for an 05 C230WZ, and I came across one that has everything I wanted (and more), but no full power seats w/ steering column and memory. Instead it's got the following:

359 – Capri Blue Metallic Exterior
118 – Ash Leather Upholstery Interior
423 – 5 Speed Automatic Transmission
319 – Lighting Package
320 – Entertainment Package
324 – Sunroof Package
819 – 6 Disk Glove Compartment Mounted CD Changer
DVD COMAND Navigation
Heated Seats

My question is this: Is the power driver's seat worth getting? Or should I forget about them and instead go with this car that has COMAND? I would drive the car about 80% of the time and my wife would use it about 20%. Which is why I was hoping for the full power seat (hate when you can quite get the seat to the exact same position it was before).

Any opinions from existing 230WZ owners?

Thanks,
Cintoman

the OEM Command isn't too useful, it's only the look. I'd say go for the power seat, and get a decent after market Navi system (pioneer Avic Z1). I know how you feel, i don't let anyone drive my car cuz i don't want them to move any of my stuff in the car heh

My opinion is that you should get every OEM option you can possibly afford. Otherwise you'll end up like the rest of us and pay more to add them later! Good luck.

I'd recommend the opposite, actually, at least on the stereo/nav unit front. Get as base as you can - otherwise, you're wasting good money on crappy product, and then go aftermarket with something better. Assuming you're ok with the warranty bs.

Sounds like the power seats would be a good option for you to have. You'll both be happier with that option included, especially if there's much of a difference in height between you.

Will two people be driving the car?
If so, it could be worth it, if not go w/ command.

power memory seats/column is very expensive to retrofit. Thousands of dollars. Comand is very easy and cheaper to retrofit.

Get the power driver's seat

Hands down get the Power Seat
on a long trip the extra adjustment is well worth the price

This is exactly why I got the power option as my wife drives the cars sometimes too. Also, it's not just the seat but the mirrors and steering column... even the head rest - this option is worth it.

Coool!

The worst part of the power seat modules is that on many cars it's led to dead batteries when it malfunctions and not cheap to fix.

If i were you i'd get the power seats (its bloody annoying having to adjust the seat all the time (4 drivers)) and if you really want Command then get it from on of the sponsers i can't remember the company but i think the name is steve....POWER SEATS+RETROFIT COMMAND= HAPPY OWNER!...lol..plus the seats would be covered under warranty so any problems you should be able to solve without paying cash.
