AMG bumper installation

If i were to purchase an AMG style front bumper, OEM off of ebay, would i need any extra parts to make it fit to my 02? I read something about possibly needing some sort of bracket/reinforcemnt. Can i utilize anything from my existing bumper?

It depends on the model of the bumper you have selected and what the seller is providing. If it is a skin you need an insert for the inner support.

make sure that you get the grills and foglights.

Don't buy one of those "repaired" bumpers off of ebay. It it's been cracked you don't want anything to do with it.

You will need the alum rivets, inner support, 3 grills, fogs, and impact foam. Most can be reused from your old bumper. The inner support can be modified to fit as per OEM spec.

u gonna have a hell of a time trying to figure out which bracket/reinforcemnt goes with the bumper i heard there is a few different reinforcemnt so u must get the right one to fit the bumper. to make it easy try to find out which car the Bumper came off from and get the VIN number take it to your dealer and hopefully they can match up the reinforcemnt that came with the car. and thats the one u will have to get.

1. reinforcemnt
2. Foglights
3. 3pcs mesh grille
4. rivets
5. Clips for the grille i think u may need 12pcs

I saw a few on there with the reinforcements already on them. I may save the hassle and spend the few extra dollars to get one of those.

Would theses aftermarket AMG style bumpers also require the AMG reinforcement? The body kit stores that have the aftermarket ones don't say anything about the reinforcement, nor do they include any type of reinforcement.

dont know much about the replica kits, but try it out...if it does require one, whats an extra $200? you saved that much alone by not buying a real AMG bumper. some replica kits come with the grills, too, which will cost over $300 at the dealer

Yea, that one comes with the grill, but no holes for the fogs. I may have to cut them out if i were to go with that. But it looks the same as oem, so i'm thinking it may require that reinforcement, but then again i could be wrong.

Does anyone know if the AMG rear bumper also needs it's own reinforcement like the front does. What about impact strips?

I think you can use your C320 bumper reinforcement or at most you have to modify it a bit.

But I am pretty sure the impact strip is similar to that of C320 bumper.

2003 C230 SS
Need help facelifting my 2003 C230 SS

I just purchased a 2003 C230 Sports Sedan last month. The first thing I wanted to swap out was the ugly frosted headlights which I did finally and the car looks 100X better already I also was lucky enough to get the rims swapped out with a 2007 c230 which are pretty bad ****. I have a few questions on what else I need to give it a complete facelift and if anything requires any body shop modification or is it all stuff I can install myself?

My main concern is that I want to install the AMG style front bumper like the newer 2005-2007 have, and Ive seen some for sale on ebay but dont know if this is just a direct remove and replace part or if other parts have to be replaced as well or modified to fit. Any input would be appreciated.. FYI, I did use the search function but didnt really find the info I was looking for... but found some great DIY on how to remove the bumper.

Other than that I plan on getting the lip spoiler, replace the frosted fog lenses with some clear ones, facelifted side mirrors and possibly a flat hood emblem and CL or Expressions grill.. but not sure on the grill and emblem though, I kind of like the elegance the stock hood emblem gives the car. Are there any other suggestions anyone has? Thanks
