Thumbs up

Congrats guys!!!!!!!!! awesome choice Welcome to the club of proud owners!

Regarding the Bluetooth, Make sure the mic is pointing directly to the driver, I'll post some pics tomorrow how I set it up.
About the echo, MAKE SURE YOU "BOND" (or pair) THE UNIT AND THE PHONE WITH THE PHONE VOLUMEN REALLY LOW, THIS ENSURES A REDUCTION IN ECHO PRODUCE BY DEFAULT VALUES. IF IT'S ALREADY PAIRED YOU NEED TO CLEAR OUT YOUR HARDDRIVE (and all your music as well...) ptfff

I haven't installed it yet. I finally got my steering wheel adapter from Portugal, and it LOOKS like it should work. I used a power supply and played around with the Z1 and I already love it. I wired in my flasher circuit (I have a June unit) and it works.

I have a factory bose system, so I'm replacing the amp and bose sub with a 500/2 amp and an 8" JL W5 sub.

I'm going to start installing it next weekend -- I'm busy this weekend.

are you going to run the speakers on a different amp, or just use the head unit's amp for that? I have bose as well, and I don't what to do with it. I am geting avic d2.

fanito, ever since you posted this DIY, I've been wavering on getting the AVIC instead of stock Comand. At the same time, my laziness for DIY's gets to be more prominent as the days go by. And, I really like having the controls through the steering wheel.

where do you get MB Quarts from? What model? How much?
I have no clue on what I am getting in. I ordered my D2 and now what? What kind of amp do I need? Should I get one wit like 5 chanels for the spekers and the sub? Or should I get 2 amps one for speakers and 1 for sub. What sub to get? Questions.....
Sugestions are welcome.

I have the Pioneer kit to use the steering wheel controls with the Z1.

Exclamation AVIC Z1 is the right choice, Drex!

Drex, the price for the comand is higher and eventhough you think that you get just about the same you need to consider some options.
1. Bigger screen (7'')
2. Updated Nav Maps
3. XM and Sirius integration (not just only as AUX, I mean, full integration)
4. Bluetooth connectivity for cellphones (you can get it for MB but that stuff costs $900 or more, only $120 for the AVIC and it works with most of the phones)
5. You can watch DVD's right out of the box, no need to buy a separate DVD player.
6. You can even put a rearview camera
7. Wanna watch local TV? you can too...
8. The sound settings are awesome too...
9. Ipod integration (not the best but ehhh, who cares, still works)
10. Speed, RPMs, Lateral G's, Inclination, etc....

I can go on and on... but believe me, the only thing that will be affected will be the volume and still will be at hand. There is nothing better than having a touch screen, really neat and fancy. I love it. I'll try to post pics of mine fully working .

Did you swap from the Euro Comand to the AVIC Z1?

My D2 should be here saturday or, if not, than monday. Today I took out the rear passenger side pannel and the trunk cover from the Bose subwoofer. It was a little work but did all in less than 1.5 hours. My friend said that he is going to help with the install. I hope it will all work out.
