My 2005 C230K is limited at 130, as the official MB specs say it is. Have cruised at 125mph before on the I-22 Corridor between Birmingham and Memphis.. absolutely deserted. The M271 is out of power at those speeds. This was not too long after I got it.. had maybe 35,000 on it at the time so it wasn't just age slowing it down.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
271 gets better mileage but for sure less power than the other engines.
It would run out of power going 'over the hill' 1200 ft mountain I commuted over,
but that was with auto, and it was a dealer loaner. I can climb that hill accelerating the whole time.

The 271 is light on power, but I've never been in a situation where it felt under-powered. 192ft-lbs of torque is plenty healthy in a car that size. Now, I do wish it had a 6MT. That would make it worlds better, I'm sure.

I have to say I still enjoy the 6MT in my coupe way more than even the newer auto C350 I test drove or the wifes auto GLK. Its still fantastic driving the coupe as it hits 6k rpm, and as you said, I've never really had any feeling of low torque. It's great working through the gears, only a shame MA has very bumpy highways!

That said, every time I drive it on the highway (at speed) I get a renewed enthusiasm for the car.

I'd also love to get a timed zero to sixty because I swear it's far faster than the specs report(ed).
