K2 (phone) signal amplifier?
I'm getting the phone option in my C230 (the new one, not the Timeport) and I'm wondering if it comes with a 3 watt amplifier like some other installation kits. Anybody know? Thanks.

just from personal experience, the v60 get way better reception in fring areas vs the old timeport/startac build. In my home (fringe area) my timeport and startac (relegated to family) get 1 to 0 bars of signal, while the v60 gets 2-3
i have been very pleased with my 500 dollar phone, although kinda pissed i gotta buy another one![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

amplifiers are not allowed on digital phones (both TDMA and CDMA) thanks to the FCC. You can, however, buy a broadband amp from tessco which would work fine... but it would be illegal and also your cellular carrier would shut off your phone if they knew because if you use it too close to a cell site it can damage their receivers.

Thanks for the info.
Not allowed by the FCC, huh? I should have known that! I'm not a telecom attorney, but I work with them constantly on cable, telco and wireless issues. Thanks for the info.
On the issue of wireless signals did you realize that a C230 can have:
*AM/FM
*GPS receiver
*Cellular transceiver
*Keyless entry/Infrared
*Radar detector/jammer
When I told my dad (who is an engineer for Motorola) that I read somewhere the S-Class has 22 independent systems networked via fiber, he just groaned and said, "they're so complicated now even I probably couldn't fix them!" I didn't have the heart to tell him to leave out the "probably." Let's hope the build quality is as advanced as the gadgetry it's supporting.....
