We are only doing the front. Even the factory ones are for the front only. HOWEVER, if you're really insterested in doing to rear, I can look into that!! I think it might not have enough space for long words though.

The sedan is selling for $529 at MB. I still cant figured out why the sedan is selling for $130 more?? They're both for the front only!! Umm....

Harris, it looks great! I have been looking around for door sills that say /////AMG, however I have not been able to find any. Do you have any plans on making some AMG door sills? If you do make some AMG door sills, I would definetly buy them!

I do not care if the AMG door sills are lighted or not. Again, great job.

few question:

1) if we send u the door sill and modification and all that, how does the wiring works? do we need to take off the door panel?
2) how much would it cost if we send u the door sill?

3) the factory illuminated door sills for the sedan is around 500 something, does that include both side or just one side?

thanks

You only need to take out the sill prior to modification. After we send it back to you, I'll give you detail instructions as to where to get the power, you dont need to take out the door panel. But you need to take out the panel underneath the B-pillar. We are looking for possible ways to get around with it though.

2) how much would it cost if we send u the door sill?

I have to see the demand first. It will be a very low introductory price. In no way will it be more expensive than the factory setup. Give me a few days to work out my cost and the final pricing.

the factory sills are $529 for both sides, labor is about $250.

thanks

If those are electroluminescent strips, then the life of them is about 300 hours of on time. I assume they will work off a door pin switch or similar, right?

Harris, just a thought, but you might want to do a full price w/ a refund or something. IE, sell them at cost w/ the black sills and when people get them they could install and send you back their used sills for a refund...then people could buy more and you could use the returned sills.

just a though.

dave

And they look sweet btw, I'd be interested if the price is right.

Question

Two questions/comments:

1) Is there any way you can order different backlight colour strips? Ie. instead of the blue, a white? Or other colours?

2) I think I'd rather have the option to buy a new sill with the engraving, than to use my own, as if I ever want to sell the car, and it has a personaliased message on the sill, I'd like to be able to put it back to being plain silver/black.

Just some thoughts.

Thanks,

Tim

Harris I am sorry those are for the ML

sorry, I was confused the ones for the ML sell for $300 for 4 of them. I could not find the ones for the C-class. On our C240 they only came in front and were thrown in the deal so I don't know how much they were.

Regarding your project I think it looks great, I guess you could market them better with the custom lettering, like some folks have suggested here.

Good luck and keep us posted.

here is a link to the ML ones

There will be blue, green, red available. As well as FLASHING with any of these 3 colors!!! Yeah, disco time, baby!

Yes. Thats why I will give you guys two pricing, one with your sill only and the other with a new set of sill. The difference is about $120.

Just some thoughts.

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks for the response, Harris.

Are blue, green, and red the only colours that you can buy of the strips, or are those the only colours that you are willing to offer at this point?

I ask because I'd really like to see white as an option, if that's possible.

Thanks again,

Tim

Thanks for your compliments.

Dont worry about the confusion. But I really mean it, if you can find it for $300, I dont have to spend so much time to develop this.

You are absolutely correct. The whole idea of this is the custom lettering. And that is not the difficult part. The most difficult part is how to write "simple and clear instructions" to guide everyone to install the sills back to the car. Give me some time, we are working hard on it. I wont give up at this stage. I am encouraged by the feedback so far.

I was told by my supplier that they have those 3 colors available. I can check with them whether they can do white. Will leave a note in here on Mon or Tues.

Pricing is set. I can offer a group buy (with each individual lettering) if there are more than 20 orders (sedan + coupe). Please e-mail me for additional info.

I havent got a chance to take a look at the door sills of the W211. I have to look at its construction first.

Right now, I can do only do C, SLK, E, S-class. The SL is definitely out of question because the silver plate is oval shape and its very hard for me to die-cut that shape & make it fit.

If anyone wants to do other than C-class, pls contact me directly.

I think some of you havent updated your e-mail here. A number of people were sending me e-mails enquiring about the price. I did send PM to those who showed interest in the past few days already. But I guess at least half of you havent received it. If anyone who is interested, please send me an e-mail directly. I do not want to break the rules on the board and advertise publicly.
