EBC Brake Disc

Hi

I just want to ask if anyone used this kind of brake disc (rotors) before.
The brand is EBC, are they any good.

My front brake is pretty warn out, so might as well change the rotors, I am just wondering if this will be a good choice.
I also want to know if EBC pads are good or not.

thanks,
Michael

Or you can look into Porterfield pads as well, especially the RS-4 pads.

I had EBC slotted & dimples rotors & Greenstuff pads on another car of mine, the discs were kind of soft metal if you ask me, warped easy, & the guy who re-surfaced them said he could tell the metal was soft, maybe I got a bad set?

Just in time....

blah, blah, blah... long story short this weekend I got the "brake linning wear, visit workshop" message. Just in time for some last minute recommendations. I am not trying to hijack the thread but might as well instead of opening a new one I'll ask my fellow mb owners for some advice. I have to change the front brakes (both pads and rotors). Currently I have stock and apparently the EBCs are not that worth it. Any other brands? hopefully with the websites that I can purchase them from? Maybe something better than stock? something slotted?

I always wanted to upgrade my brakes but I hate that I have to do this in an unplanned period, so I guess I can't really afford the brembos yet . Same happened with my tires... life sucks heh... timing is everything...

Went by the stealership and they quoted me the price for the OEM parts.
Rotors (Front): $79.99 each (w00t!!!)
Pads (Pair): $65
Sensor: $6.95 (that's a decent price, sheeezsh)

Any suggestions for a decent brakes and rotors? I'm open to suggestions!

Do you have to replace all or just front? If it's just the front, you should just upgrade to either the AMG fronts or Sport Sedan fronts. If you don't have the money to do that, go with Porterfield pads.

Luckily you have an 02. The 04.5+ brakes COST MUCH MUCH MORE!

2005 C230 SS
EBC....hawk...or porterfiedl???????

So many mixed reviews.

I think I might just stick with stock OEM MB pads...I have around 23,000 miles on my car and my front left brake pad is wearing faster than my front right brake pad... and what sucks is that the actual brake pad sensor is on my front right brake pad...the wearing of the brake pad was happening in the inner part of the brake pad / it showed uneven wear because the outer part of the brake pad still looked good....so it looks like I have to get new brake pads for the front - my rear brakes still looked good. Plus the shop said that my rotors were a little groovy but that I shouldn't have to replace them - just have them smoothed down.

I wonder how much stock OEM MB front brake pads are for a 2005 C230 SS??

I know MB of Pompano charges like $260 for new front brake pads including a new sensor and installation....

Let's see... 65+6 = 71, so yeah, they are overcharging you, hmmm... really doesn't surprise me. Do a search in google for Mercedes pads, you'll see.

I went to the dealership and just picked up OEM pads for like 120 bucks for both front and rear and sensors for like 5 bux.

Then had Carlab install.

Prob just gonna pick up OEM rotor after these new pads wear out.
