Heated Mirrors?
Also, the mirrot adjustment button in my car has just the 2 selectors beside the 4 directional button. I have seen some have 4 buttons around them 2 on top, 2 on the bottom what are they for other than the 2 used to select the left or right mirror?
Thanks!
Normally the rear heated screen switch triggers the heated mirrors as well, for all of us that live in countries with crap weather. I also have the heated windscreen wash to stop the pipes freezing up.
I have the 4 buttons and the 2 at the top operate the foldback mirrors for parking and for putting into garages with limited space.

BMWs use the same way of controlling them.
In Volvos the side mirrors get heated in sync with the rear window, which I find more useful, as you have more control over it (e.g. after a rain).

I was wondering what those buttons were for.

For the U.S. spec W203, can the side mirrors be folded manually at all?? I am afraid to break it so I just want to make sure if we can. thx

They are sprung mounted - meaning, you can folld them manually, but they will return to their original position once the external force is gone.
I'll take your word for it. I am not going to experiment.

This is the second car I own that doesn't have foldable mirrors
the first one was 14 years ago

From my experience, I wouldn't call them "foldable". They move about 1/2" in each direction, but I wouldn't want to force them.
You can move them alot farther than that... Don't worry about putting too much force on the mirrors. They will not break. The spring is ultra strong. To be able to remove the outer shell, you need to push the mirror all the way back (towards the front of the car) to get to the clip that releases the shell. That's how I know... From past experience.I always thought that the heaters were triggered by the rear defogger, and not by a temperature trigger. The electric wires that cause the heating element in the mirrors run to a relay that also houses the rear defogger. Also from past experiences, my mirrors never heated up unless I had the rear defogger on. But this is on older MB cars (1999 C230K and 2000 ML320).

Wanna bet???

I have never taken apart a CL203 C230K blinking mirror. I only have experience with the non blinking w202 mirrors and blinking w210 mirrors. The w210 mirrors have a LED based flashing bulb. The blinking portion is in a sealed housing with the LED bulb inside it. In order to get to the LED bulb, you would have to break the housing, something I was unwilling to experiment with (it looks like if you took a heat gun to this housing you would be able unseal the housing and get to the bulb). If I'm not mistaken, the CL203 mirror is the same way. I'm assuming you want to switch to a white bulb LED rather than amber LED??? Sorry I couldn't have helped you more.

(I currently have PIAA HID-white turn signals in the front, and to get a fully-white look from the front I need to change the rearview mirror blinkers too. )
