I'm thinking about buying a used C230. Is there anything I should be aware of when I'm looking at them? Possible problem areas? Thanks for your help in advance.

Just wanted to be clear on what you wanted to get. And it will also depend on whether you plan on doing "performance" mods or if it doesn't really matter to you.
If you want to do performance mods, 2002 C230 is a good choice. If you don't want to do performance mods, I'd try to find a newer coupe 2003 or 2004.

One last question, My Crossfire requires Mobil 1 synthetic and oil changes run near one hundred dollars. What is the average oil change of the C230's. You may be wandering why I want to move to MB, well I love my Crossfire but the problems I've had and the service I've recieved from my dealerships has stressed me out so much that I'm ready for a change. I happened to take my Crossfire to Mercedes of Nashville and recieved excellent service. I now have a new job in my company and I need more space than my crossfire can give me.

I had a brand new 02 Coupe in 6 speed..a very fun car with lots of room for performance mods...but for some reason i had a lot of problems with it..including the sunroof problem that was mentioned earlier..I ended up taking it in and grabbing a 03 C320 4Matic SS after..
IMO if you just like the coupe and are gonna keep it close to stock as far as engine mods...Go with a newer Coupe like 04 or 05 depending on your budget..they are a lot smoother to drive/idling and alot of the problems of the earlier Coupes have been rectified in them.
One thing i miss about the coupe is that little window under the back hatch which was great for parking!

I purchased a used 03 sedan. almost 2 years ago. I'm at 36k and have had no problems with it except for the one time when my fuel gauge just went out. Took to service dealer and they said they couldn't figure it out??? They had to drain the tank so I picked up my car with a full tank of gas.Very happy with it! I love it, For me, I think it is a very reliable automobile for being a 4 cyl...
I wouldn't buy one unless it had a factory waranty left...Mine is 2-3 months old. And I have to call to make an appointment to bring it in already. Making a weird noise. from the engine.
