2005 vs 2006 C230 Sport

Hi.

Too lazy to search and put together posts so I'm gonna just ask. Performance-wise, is the Kompressor version faster/quicker than the V6?

Thanx!

In the 2006 C230 horsepower has increased from 189 to 201, tourque has gone down from 192@3,500 to 181@2,700 and the 05 was 16-Valve, whereas the 2006 became 24-V.

For more info view this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/114685-2006-c230-ss-vs-2005-c230-ss.html

Overall, I believe in 'technical' features the 2005 was better (according to the thread) - however, I believe the 2006 is smoother (and heavier). But from what people have told me, it's like driving a S55 vs S600, it's true they both reach 60 in 4.5sec. and both are limited to 155mph, but the V12 does it with eaassse.

My personal experience driving the two is this: The 06, although loaded with more cylinders and HP, feels lethargic. The S/C'ed four was fairly peppy for its output. The 06 sounds better though.

Cool

I think the 05's are faster if that's what you're asking... 06's feel a little sluggish....

Too many to list
According to MBUSA, the '07 sport sedan(same as '06) does 0-60 in 8.5sec (auto) and 8.0sec (manual) while my '05 brochure said it does 0-60 in 7.8sec auto and 7.6sec manual.

Yes, I think the weight became an issue with the 06's and 07's, well obviously the engine changed; but anyway, I guess they didn't maximize enough horsepower to make up the difference.

But yeah, the '06 has many advantage of being newer - here's 1: Warranty.

By openly providing that you do not want to search the forum you are opening yourself up for a flame. I am not one to troll a thread but your comment is rediculous, you either cannot comprehend the complex task of using the search function on this forum (instuctions here) or Google must be firewalled by your network as a simple google search would provide the requeted infomation. Better yet MSN autos or Vehix would provide the a side by side comparison...but why go through all that trouble when you can just type www.mbusa.com in the URL?

auto vs auto i believe the 05 is faster. the 06 has a 7 speed auto where everyone mentions it tries to find the right gear therefore the term sluggish. looking by the numbers it seems stock vs stock they're about the SAME. i haven't heard much of 6-speed 05 vs 6-speed 06 because that could be another story. driver is a big factor in all of this.

It seems strange that MB would not try to compete
with the BMW 325i/328i and up the torque and hp a little bit to
make it more even. I know I will be buying the 328i early next year
instead.

I guess they were scared of losing sales to the c280 when in
fact the c230 should be replacing that unit. The c350 isn't even
a big seller and wonder how the next gen. will do now with the
335i out.

Seems lazy in this day and age not to give people
a little more oomph in improved hp for the price.

Besides the performance ala c230, MB still rocks big time.

i like the v6, smoother steering is so much nicer...smooth throttle...throaty sound at 4k...pulled resonator and k/n's with unplugged air boxes...i dont care if its slow...the sound is soo nice. i say a v6 with some minor mods, maybe chipped..exhaust..sprint booster?...its fun enough..sometimes when i kick down..its more than enough power...u jus gotta learn how to drive it. id say another 40-50 hp would be perfect, or jus more low end tq.

Hasn't this one been beat to death enough? 05 is faster. And its better on gas. Period. 06 has the little V6 and that craptastic 7 speed tranny. Had one as a loaner. Really didn't like it. Shifts constantly, and the engine is downright C240ish in power. Maybe with a manual trans it might be a little more fun. Under full throttle it makes nicer sounds inside the car, but overall, the package is a letdown. Take the C280 or the C350.

06 c230 v6 SS
so since everyone keeps wondering this, i had a little fun today.

i ran into a few c's today and they wanted to play. i was stopped at a red light with a huge stretch ahead of me, with a merging lane coming up. a c coupe (1.8 komp) pulls up next to me. the light turns green and i go full throttle cause i knew shed do the same cause she was weaving to catch up to me at the light. so im going, i kinda hesitated at first but still a decent launch, and were pretty squared up, but i started to pull on her at 3rd by like half a car, then the merging of lanes came up and i had about half to 3/4's of a car as i was starting to pull on her and she stopped and let me all the way in front but stayed on my ***, so i kept going and got a good space between us. pretty decent matchup, but id expect a coupe to pull faster b/c of the smaller car and less weight. so i dunno what kind of conclusions you guys wanna draw out of this 1.8 vs 2.5 v6 thing. i also ran into a black 05 sport lowered on black 19's, he seemed like he wanted to race a little, but i was on the fone, we did kinda get on it, but he was ahead of me and the light turned yellow so we both punched it and i caught up and passed him. dunno guys, i think stock to stock, 06's have the top end/3rd gear and up. what do u guys think, anyone else have any good stories??

BTW i pulled the resonator and have k/n's if that does any justice of me gaining a crap load of hp
