"Foggy" Headlights

I really don't like the look of the headlights on my '02 C240- it has quite a dated look. I've been searching around the net seeing some DEPO replacement lights with the clear euro assemblies...* Is there anyway that I can just take off the "foggy" cover part and replace it with a clear one or do I have to buy a whole new assembly? Hard to explain, but I was looking at my lights the other day and it looks like the covers will come off leaving the rest of the assembly intact.

Thanks for any help,

rodngun762

is SOLD
you have to buy the whole assembly. $379 isn't bad compared to over 1k for bi-xenon. and then you could always buy an HID kit

But even if you did get the lens off, wouldn't the upgrade look better with a DEPO projector than without one and stock? Might actually be worth the time/money to just upgrade - btw on that link they sell HID kits too - ask them if they can combo it?

Count on taking the bumper cover off and replacing the entire headlamp assembly. Take your time so you don't damage the bumper cover. Best to have a friend hold one side when you remove/install so you can do it evenly.

Thank you all for the response.

I'm trying to figure out if the DEPO aftermarket projector lenses are worth a hassle. So it seems that more than just some plug and play is required- some fitting and maybe a car reprogram (or maybe that is just for xenon). On my 2002 c240, will I expect any difficulty in installing/funcionality of newer euro clear OEM headlights from a newer c class benz?

Am I the only one that really is peeved by the old style?- most of my friends and family think my current lights are fine... IMO Xenon or at least clear totally updates the look.

Thanks!

Haha, I'm the opposite, I like the standard lights on my 2004 (same as your 2002) so I did HID retrofit and kept the factory look. I think the clear ones look Honda Civic like, but hey, that's just me. If you want to change the appearance there's no shortcuts, you need to remove the bumper cover, figure a 2 hour project for a newbie if you have some mechanical skills. Has nothing to do with halogen or xenon, just to change the housing, same wether you get DEPO bix knockoffs or the clear headlight style from the 2005+ or real bixenons.

Eh might as well do it myself- Dealership will probably want $200+ for install.

Thanks.

There are several threads regarding about the DEPO projector headlights with some good and bad experiences, to sum it up:
pros: the exterior look is a definite upgrade, with HIDs it looks awesome
cons: visibility wise, it is very poor if using halogens; with HIDs it is still questionable (but maybe ok)

IMHO, I even thought about getting the DEPO's w/ HIDs but after thinking about the process (alterations and fitting HID kit, xenon present, etc ) and what can go wrong (especially if this is your first mod like me for example ), its best to get the real thing and have it done professionally <-- thats my 2 cents

BTW, I contacted Steve/Wanda from MBenzNL and ordered a set of EURO Spec BiXenons earlier this week and he'll do the install and settings in early December
