Bad Radio Reception

Hey guys,

Have tried searching for my query, but cant seem to get my answers i need.

Had the head unit changed from a factory to an after market (Alpine).

Factory was S**T as it would ot play rip cds and just found it tacky.

So with the new Alpine, thought it would also fix the bad reception i get. Guess what...i didnt change a thing.

Where is the factory FM/AM Radio cable or antenna? I was told its on the windscreen. I think its just me, i cant seem to see nor find it?

The antenna is imbedded in the glass, but not the windscreen, it is at the other end. It shares the wires burried to heat the rear window. These antennas usually have an amplifier that requires power. Your installer should be able to connect a power source to the antenna amp and improve reception. I don't know which Alpine you deceided is better than the factory HU, but some have an output to send power to the antenna amp. You may also have a bad or disconnected amp in your car. The antenna connector is sometimes different between OEM and aftermarket radio's. It's a German thing.

Do you have a coupe or sedan? Did you tint your windows? You should put your car in your sig and the area you live in the profile to get better help.

Why? you can get antenna adapters for amplified antenas online or from CC. I bet he has a coupe although he appears to be shy and won't respond but the coupes have the amplifier in the hatch on top and if the windows were tinted they probably got the electronics wet up there and damaged the amplifier. Or it could be the hatch was left opened in the rain and it got damaged the same way.

Could or does anyone have a pic of where the connection/connector of the FM antenna is on a W203 Sedan.
