Changing spark plugs
I am wondering which spark plugs should i use in my 2001 C240.
should i use BOSCH-PLATINUM+2 or BOSCH-PLATINUM+4?
I tried to search on the forum and i couldn't find any answer...
I just saw somebody suggested not to use any resistor plugs
Thank you

Use the recommended plug (buy it on line, not the dealer for $savings) and don't pull on the wires or you'll end up replacing them as well (expensive). STFF for how to info on changing your plugs.

whats the benefit of changeing the plugs over the stock? I think the stock is already a platinum plug and good quality. May be the denso iribium is better but would you feel the different in performance? If so then I might be interested in getting them on the next spark plug replacement.
Have anyone done MSD ignition install on their benz? My local shop claim 4hp gain at the wheel. I am quite skeptic with that claim, any ideas?

Mercedes says to use a open end wrench as a lever to get the plug wire off the sparkplug. (On a C240) The IK16 is approved for many, but not all engines by Mercedes.
I don't think there would be any hp gain from using an MSD ignition to replace the already superior spark management system in Mercedes cars.
I'm unsure that replacing the pulley on a normally aspirated car would result in any improvement, except perhaps making it easier to sit on your wallet.

it reduces the power going to the water pump and power steering by 20% thats where you get the 12hp gain... The water pump and power steering are soo good they dont even notice the loss... If you look up about the evo sport pulley's you will see everyone is satisfied with them, and can notice power gains... Good luck

It also runs the alternator and AC compressor. I haven't read of anyone experiencing problems with cooling/steering/or electrical system because of an underdrive pulley but don't you think MB would have done the same thing if it was safe for the engine? They would have even saved money since the pulley is smaller.
