Eff the electronics, gut that *****...one of the best sleeper ideas i have ever heard is a desert silver c240, even if it means you have to loose the traction control, if you have an LS1 to play with do your really want that stupid traction control anyway? this would be more fun in a 4matic

I figured that i could just get rid of majority of the electronics, I don't see myself using them anyway. I'm glad i don't have 4-matic, too much extra weight plus RWD is fun as hell. And thanks for the support haha

I'm sure people would love to see vids of guys getting smoked by an LS1 Powered C240 haha. And in response to the cost, well this was my plan.....

I planned on taking a 10-15K loan for another car...but seeing as how I want to do this swap, I'll use that loan to support this swap (when i get the loan).

P.S.- I have friends that are master techs, and fabricators so ill be askin/beggin for favors haha.

If you're going to take a loan I'd seriously reconsider the idea!

haha I understand what you're saying, but if i have to take a loan to do, I'll do it. I know I won't regret that loan. haha. Plus I figure I could have majority of the items I need before I need to take the loan.

I plan on doing this thing in stages and over the course of 2-4yrs. Giving me plenty of time to prepare and plan this thing. I'm in no rush. I want to have all the pieces necessary ready for installation all at once.

I'll say this, if I have to take a loan to get it done.....I will. Thats what loans are there for....I will however avoid taking one until its desperately needed.

Hmm, I say go for it. I don't understand why everyone is flaming Redline for his ideas. Let the guy do his project!

Cammed LS1 engines make feel funny in my pants. With that being said, I will be an owner of a LS1 Z28 in 2007.

That would be one hell of a project, once you map out the project and it's projections please post estimates (Time vs Cost ect.) inquiring minds wants to know.

Forget the LS motors....get your hands on an older Mopar 340 or 360 block and build it b*lls out. Match that to a 727 Torqueflight with a Dana rear and you're bulletproof.
The mopar block won't bog down your front end, and the mounting points are closer to the front of the block, so it sets the engine closer to the firewall. The only issue you'll have is annual inspections.... You may have to register it as a hot rod. Check MonsterGarage.com for pointers.

Imagine that....a Monster Mercedes.

Why not get a surplus Prat & Whitney jet engine? Fiberglass it to the roof, and if the cops light you up, demonstrate the afterburner for 'em. Now that's what I'd call automotive entertainment.

I don't view it as heartache that it would cause me. I think it would simply be awesome and time well spent. People only consider it heartache when they don't see the value of the outcome.

Once you sit down in that Z28 and drive it you'll be hooked.

I plan on keeping this site up to date with everything. I need to acquire some diagrams of the vehicle and start mapping out this thing. I figure that installing the engine and fabricating new mounts will be easy.....its just all the MB electrical and etc that will be difficult.

Also, Anyone who can get me a complete set of diagrams (Electrical and Mechanical) please contact me ASAP!

Hahaha If I fiberglass the roof the BMW guys wouldn't be too happy because I'll be stomping on the toes of their CSL (I think thats the vehicle).

you guys need to be easy on this RIT dude, the engine swap idea aint bad at all. Have you try look in to potent japanese engine like the Supra's 2JZ turbo? Its cheap and a little mod you cam pump 500hp easy. In thailand its a very popular mod and it cost like $2000dollars for the motor, grear, and harnesses and all the labor. This red one belong to a friend.

Dude... all I have to say is I feel bad for you! RIT sucks *****!!! The school is good, but the whole area is dead and so increadibly boring... I also got tired of looking at all the super geeks!

Is the Korean midget who runs around on the razor scooter still there? That guy was awesome!

Too bad they built the path outside Gracies on that hill, we used to steal the trays and snowboard down that hill until they paved that path.

Anyways... I think your better bet is to find a crashed CLK 500 that was totaled from the rear and just doing a front clip swap. Then you can supercharge that motor. You got the rear diff that could work too... it would mean a lot less engineering work has to be done.

Hahaha Well see this is partially why I wanted to start the project haha Nothing to do up there at all and yeah the korean midget is still there, and we steal trays too but thats to do donuts when we get bored.

And no i dont want to do a CLK motor swap forget that. I want an LSx motor because A. It would sound NASTY B. I would eat SLs for lunch with a couple mods C. Ultimately would be cheaper and easier to maintain (the motor that is). I figure I could keep the rear I have now and upgrade the differential to support more power. I'm pretty headstrong on this one, I'm not rushing it though, I will take my time. I want to plan EVERYTHING out before I set a wrench to this car.

Oh yeah who can provide me with sources to all I need to know about this car??? Any and all help would greatly be appreciated.
