The ESP/BAS errors popped up 2 times on my car so far. It disappeared for a while when I shut off the engine and restart.
Are you sure the wiring harness is the confirmed source of problem?? I don't wanna bring my car in multiple times for them to try this try that...

The wiring harness replacement has worked for me. There may be another cause, corrosion of a sensor near a front fender. If the dealer suggests that corrosion is the problem, I'd ask the dealer to replace the appropriate wiring harness as well. I took my car in twice for this problem. The first time the dealer dealt with the corrosion; when that fix did not solve the problem, the dealer replaced the wiring harness.

These messages just popped up right after I parked my car in the garage for the night. The funny thing is that it only has 700 miles on it so far. I will ask them to look at it on wednesday becuase I am bringing it in for them to add an amplifer becuase the radio sounds awful.

It's been fifteen days since the wiring harness was replaced and I haven't received BAS/ESP error codes.

The errors I got were 2 months from each other. Anyway, I'll mention about this error when service B is due.

Here's my experience with this (2002 c230 6-speed)

Starting at around 8,000 miles I noticed the car was trying to brake itself occasionally. It was pretty subtle and only happened every few days, so i decided to live with it. I didnt want to leave my car for a week and have them not fix the problem.

Over the next 10,000 miles the problem slowly got worse and worse, until at around 18,000 miles the self-braking was occuring at least once per hour. I had resolved to take the car in soon, then one day about an hour into the drive i got the infamous BAS-ESP message. I took the car in the next day and got it back a few hours later.

I dont know if the problems were related. My mechanic thinks they were. However, i took the car in two months ago, and neither issue has come up since, i'm very satisfied.

If anyone wants to know exactly what they did, i'll grab my work order. It had something to do with a travel sensor and maybe also a brake cylinder (if there is such a thing )

the fix is a connector ,and a repair to lengthen the wiring harness to the control modlule.
the parts are on back order though.
just be patient,,push the rest button to clear message...
yes, it is inconvient.but will be repaired
