same one as you, Canon Digital Rebel XTi, 10MP, 18-55mm lens from the lens kit with a hood and just a UV filter. I don't usually use a tripod but for the last one with the R-Class I did. I do use the P-mode and M-mode, I'm pretty good at figuring out what all the settings do and getting the right setting for a particular shot or effect. This camera is really easy to learn, just get a big memory card and take like 40-70 photos per day and you will pick it up fast. Just keep playing with the manual mode settings seeing what each one does. Or you could read the manual.
