Silver front turn signal bulbs?

Has anyone found 'silver when off, amber when on' bulbs for the front turn signals of W203's?

Philips makes a PY21W (fits rear turn signal, but not front) "Silver Vision" bulb.

Ideas?

Why buy new "silver" bulbs for $25/pr when you can make your own?? Just go to your local Home Depot or hardware store and buy yourself a $3 can of Rustoleum Metallic Silver spray paint. Spray your current amber bulbs with 2 even and thin coats and voila, 5 minutes later, you have yourself a set of homemade silver vision bulbs. The paint is high temp paint and will not burn or come off. If you need visuals, check out THIS THREAD.

Great tips! Thanks!

Evosport only carries the PY21W/1156, which works in the rear of the W203, but not the front.

It appears that a DIY job is in order.

The front turn signal bulbs in the coupe are 1156's. Are they different for a sedan?

You know, you have a good point. I do believe that they are (I don't have a manual in front of me and yes I RTFM). I thought that the 1156 was the US code for PY21W. It is not. The US code for PY21W is 7506, so maybe 1156 is what I am looking for.

Thanks for the tip.

The rear turn signal bulbs are PY21W

The front turn signal bulbs are 1156NA (NA indicates Amber)

I painted some $2 1156NA's today and they work great! I just misted them with "Chrome" colored paint (very metallic silver). They show NO amber when looking at the car with the lights off. I had one painted and one stock bulb in the car and turned on the emergency flashers and could BARELY tell the difference. I'll check it out tonight, but I am comfortable with what I saw.

Thanks for the tip. You saved me $25.

The Silvervision bulbs work on the front and rear of the w203 (and almost every other new model MB). The only cars it doesn't work on is ones with dual-filament sockets such as the w202.

Mach 430,

Do you sell the same bulb for applications calling for PY21W AND 1156NA? If so, and it is the PY21W, it is the wrong wattage (too high) for the front turn signal. Plus, it does not fit correctly.

Can you clarify if you sell one bulb for both front & rear or two separate bulb numbers?

Thanks

The AIC 1156 Bulbzz

THose bulbs for the front turn signals really match my brillant SIlver C320 when it is flashing. so is the revers light. I still can't figure out how to take apart the mirrors to get to the bulbs. anyone know how ?

I think to remove the lens you have to adjust the mirror to be all the way up, and then you can unscrew the lens and get to the blinker bulbs (which are LED from what I remember).

It is the same bulb, I'm don't have the specs at my house. Most applications require small modification to the bulb in order to easily fit. The bulbs come with 2 bumps on the end. File one end down, and you they will fit.
