Same engine, looks like it holds the same number of people, and seems to be priced in the same zone if not a little cheaper. Starting to see the impact of the merger in big ways these days.

eh?

Isn't the Crossfire based on the SLK, a convertible, and come with the 3.2 V6? I don't see how that's going to affect the C Coupé in any way. It'll probably cost a fair chunk more, besides the technical differences...

I think that being in the same price category, it may cut into the C Coupe market, especially considering the obvious disadvantage of the new 1.8L engine in the Coupe compared to a more powerful V6 in the Crossfire, plus the fact that the latter does share a lot of components and design elements with the SLK. On the other hand, it doesn't have the 3-point star on the hood.... so, we'll see.

The Crossfire is a model that is planned to help Chrysler's brand image worldwide. I don't think it was designed to steal sales from MB.

My brother has always owned european cars and says that Chrysler has nothing to offer him until the Crossfire arrives. Note - he loved the Hemi 300C convertible concept car.

The Crossfire sits two, totally different market from the C-Coupe.
I will go head to head with the new Z car, TT, and the like (hardtop forms of course).

Yeah, I guess you're right. I just keep thinking of the Coupe as a 2-seater as well, as I only had more than 2 people in mine once. But wait still - to many, it's the price that matters a lot. Especially if they (Chrysler delaers - or is it going ot be serviced at MB centers?) begin offering loaners and free cookies

The Crossfire is getting the 3.2L engine. However by the time it arrives all the MB products will be using the new 3.5L engine with more HP and torque. So even though the Crossfire borrows some parts from MB it is not getting the latest and greatest.

It will get the 3.5. It may be the last of the DCX cars to get it, but it will. MB is going to stop making the 3.2. Or maybe it will get the 2.7 Kompressor.

I don't know about that. Dodge currently has a 3.5L in their M300 so maybe the Crossfire will get that engine. I can't see DCX putting all of their C-class technology, especially a new MB engine into a car that will cost thousands less. They need product differentiation and making new MB technology available to lesser priced vehicles would not be wise.

I doubt that DCX will ship engines from the US to Germany for installation in the low cost Crossfire when the MB 3.5 is already there.

Get used to the idea of MB parts and tech in Chryslers. It will happen more and more. There is going to be a lot of the W211 in the next large Chrysler platform.

We will be seeing the Freightliner Sprinter Van at Dodge dealers as the Dodge Sprinter with a MB diesel engine in the near future due to the future demise of the Ram Van.
I saw a Sprinter at a Freightliner dealer and the window said 22MPG.

definately not a 300M engine

the engine is most certainly the 3.2 or 3.5 engine that is used in the 320 and other MB cars. I was not aware that it was a two seater so it will be in an entirely different market. Thanks for the info. The car is built by Karmann so it is already there. It comes here for the finishing and selling.
