Correct 19" setup for a W203
Hi Guys,
I originally got 265/35/19 rear and 235/35/19 front and had some rubbing instances over bumps (the car is not lowered and i dont intend to lower it).
I took the car back to the shop today. He couldn’t find the place where it was rubbing as there were "no marks on the tire’s" (apparently, that’s the way to find out if its rubbing) he put: 245/35/19 rear 235/35/19 front to see if it helps.
1. Is this the correct spec? how bout 255/30/19 rear and235/35/19 front???
2. I dont know the offset on the wheels, how do i find that out?
3. He also mentioned that some sorta alignment (not the standard wheel alignment which is done if the car lean's to one side on a straight road - this has been done) need's to be done if its still rubbing - apparently you get that if you have hit the kerb while parking or something!?!? - is this tru of some sorta sales
As you can tell, I am total newbie when it comes to this stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks man.
actually, I don't know if it'll rub or not, it depends on the offset of your wheels. most people have 265's and don't rub. 265/30/19 and 235/35/19 are correct.
look at the "official aftermarket wheel thread" for more info on what others have used.
what wheels are you using? and what year is your car?

yeah - i'm running 265's in the back and don't rub
235/35-R19's are 2.0% larger than 225/45-R17's
265/30-R19's are 2.2% larger than 245/40-R17's
225/35-R19's are 0.9% larger than 225/45-R17's
255/30-R19's are 1.2% larger than 245/40-R17's
If I remember correctly, the key is to have the rear slightly smaller than the fronts. So if you're rubbing in the back, maybe you should try 225/35's up front with 255/30's in the back. Has anyone tried that tire/size combo?

i agree fully 265 30 in the rear.. no change in ride with the 30 series tire... 40k miles in FL interstate and yet to fail.. I've climbed mountains with this setup, literally. Look at my cardomain site, 1600 ft in the smokeys and still ridin rims haha

For example 265/30-R19's.
265 is the width of the tire, measured in millimeters.
30 is the aspect RATIO. it is the percentage of the tire width, in this case 265mm, that is the height of the sidewall of the tire. So, a 265/30 tire has a taller sidewall than a 255/30 tire.
R19 - means it fits on a 19" rim

I am running 265/30/19 on 19x9.5 rims with 35 ET in the rear, the only thing I had to do is shave that little plastic tab where the bumper trim is at the rear of the well. The front I have 235/35/19 on 19x 8.5 rims with 30ET and am running AMG brakes on both the front and the rear with H&R sport springs. No rubbing at all! The ET is where the fit is, not so much the tire size, I see most people running 255 or 265 on the rear and no problems. The ET ranges from 37 to 32. I find 35 puts it right in the middle. Not to far out and nice distance from the strut on the inside.
The ET will be stamped on the inside of the rim, and if you want to go to AMG brakes then you have to get a wheel with the proper barrell distance. Look for the wheel calculator I posted on here somewhere.

yeah but 265/35-R19's are pretty tall at 6.5% too large. At these widths, a 5% increase is pretty big. I think for him, it's key to find a 265 or 255 tire with an aspect ratio of 30 and not 35

the offset for the stock amgs is 37mm.
I'm not 100% sure but I think the sizes your looking at will probably rub.
and also not sure if you were talking abt my car or phils car. but if your talking abt mine, my car is running on 17inch amgs. not dropped but looks dropped lol
