Update: Pictures And Fitment Problem

Hey guys, updating.

I finally cleaned the airbox tonight. very very very dirty. very.
but again, I have fitment issues. I did another test fit, the Y section fits the MAF perfectly after a small modification. but the tubing and airbox fitment again has a problem. but I emailed sunman, so hopefully he'll respond back with some answers.

below are 10 pictures.
1. modified version of the Y-section with zipties.
2. the top of the Y-Section.
3. one of the hoses (not sure which side this goes?) modified, to fill the extra hole.
4. the original rubber that sits on the MAF, the internal measurement is somewhere like 76mm. which WONT fit the MAF.
5. after modified version to the Y section, internal diameter measures a hair over 83mm, which is abt perfect fitment on the MAF.
6. a shot of the modification.
7. the two renntech foam filters.
8. comparision of the stock 112 paper filter to the renntech foam filter.
9. how the assembly is SUPPOSED to look like.
10. a close up of the tube connection.

Please check BELOW, after the pictures for the Part #s.

these part #s are all stock c32 amg.

A112 090 01 29 Y section
026367 A Drivers side tubing.
026367 B Passanger side tubing.
A112 090 09 01 Drivers side airbox.
A112 090 10 01 Passanger side airbox.

That hose is from the LH (driver's) side. Its hole is for the PCV system.

BTW, props to you for undertaking this mod. Trust you'll gain some HP, and have an engine that looks great!

mine is installed differently. You need to swap the left and right rubber hoses. The hose with the small blocked opening goes on the passanger side. You need to take those metal clamps off the airboxes as well. Leave the center Y- piece in place. Swap left and right sides. then rotate each piece upside down.

hmm, rotate it upside down?

you mean the hoses facing turning upwards? instead of downward.

Yes, as far as I remember, the center piece was not changed. The hoses were swapped and rotated. See if that is a better fit. It's not going to fit perfectly but pretty close. The wire ties and silicone will hold it in place.

I just remembered why mine fits good. I have a alum spacer between the Y-pipe and the MAF. It came from Kleemann. I'll check and see if I have another one. This takes care of the size difference you were referring to. The thinkness is .75-1"

thanks guys,
thanks for your help sunman,

what I did to the MAF was I used a one side stick FOAM thats abt .75" long, circumference is @ 10.5", the MAF has no problem. I'm gonna try flipping the tubes later when I get home, I need to buy zipties!

gonna take some pictures later! so check back tonight!

Its In.

The airbox is finally ON the car. fitment is a bit weird....

the Y section seems to be tilting slightly UP on the passanger side. and I hope sunman has that extra piece that goes into the Y seciton!

Tubing. I need new silicone tubing, the ones that jody gave me were crappy. they are dirty. really dirty. I cleaned it but its not flexible enough.

The drivers side airbox still SEEMS to be popping up a bit, the inner hook is popping out, because there is this hose that connects to the engine, assuming thats the gasoline hose!?? not sure...

POWER WISE...
after I installed it, i turned the car on, w/o resetting (doing the key in ignition for 5 second thing). car felt slugg-ish. So I shut it off, DID the resetting, then took it out for a spin again. WOW. u feel a slight diff from the stock box. the car is a bit louder, the exhaust note is louder. pretty interesting.

i'm still monitoring this thing, atleast for the next feel days, to see if everything is intact. I will need to head to the dealers monday morning to get the new silicone pipes!

if any NYC local want to drop by here in brooklyn to check it out, im more than welcomed. PM me tho.

Very interesting, advans. This should be more efficient than your other intake project. Once you finally figure out the fitment issues for sure, it'll be nice to see the final product. Great job.

Looking good so far.

I think that part of the fitment issue is that the rubber tube on the drivers side is to long.
Look at how its bunched up. Maybe shortening it might help.

And you def need a Kleemann s/c under there. Or at least a 20" plasma, just for shows.

Are the airboxes themselves staying on with any problems - in other words do they stay on the m112 airbox mounts without any issues?

without the hoses, the drivers side sits perfectly. but the hoses bunch up and makes the rear of the drivers side box pop up. I think it is because these hoses are old and "hard" (rubber/silcone turns hard cold) so i'm gonna head to the dealers monday morning, get the hoses, and probably heat them up before I install them. I also have to wait for sunman to get back to me about the Y-section fitment. mine is...ehh.

nick, lol u DO live quite far! maybe at the next meet!

pass side is ok but you need to rotate the drivers side rubber pipe 180 degrees.

I placed a $20 bid. 49.99 is not bad, it seems like its already painted black. all I have to do is somehow fit the star!
