I know that the Tranny Fluid is 20 bucks a quart and i was wondering does it really matter what kind of Fluid that i do use? I believe the tranny uses 9 quarts?

As someone who has done the tranny flush, I can tell you how sensitive the tranny is to overfilling, and assumably fluid. Someone posted a replacement fluid that was equivalent. I would't do it though. Tranny is just to expensive to fix.

Follow the DIY that is somewhere around here.

I think you can probably find the fluid for less, say $16.

the reason i ask is that my best friends Dad has a Mechanic shop and works on my car for free and he has dont everything such as breaks, oil changes, Lower my car and change all filters and even some sensor. I was wondering if you thought it would be ok for him to do the tranny fluid change with filter gasket the whole 9 yards, he said he can do it.

Yes, it does matter. The friction materials in the transmission and the fluid have been engineered as a package to provide long life and proper coupling of the rotating components.

It stinks that there is no aftermarket fluid available, so you must pay more than double what the sauce is worth, but $ 180 is better than $ 6,000 for a rebuilt tranny.
