2003 1.8 fender badge

I noticed in the new MB print ads for the 2003 C-Coupe that the car is sporting a "1.8" badge on the fender behind the front wheel. It's not on the pewter coupe that CME4BENZ posted pictures of, anyone's 2003 have this?

Just curious, BT

I have seen several '03's at the local dealers and none of them had such a badge.

It's not on mine (thank God!) Talk about confusing, its bad enough with a 1.8L engine in a car called a C230. Would be worse if they advertised it on the side of the car!

There is no factory 1.8 badges on the 2003 C230, get over it already.

I heard that Mercedes-Benz might be changing the C-Coupe from a C230k to a C180...they want to put in a 1.8L Turbocharged engine in it, to compete more with the A4 and GTI...a friend of mine who used to work for a Mercedes-Benz dealer told me this a few months ago. Anyone else heard about that?

Do you mean as opposed to the 1.8L Supercharged currently in the '03's? They just put a lot of work into this engine, I doubt they'll be changing the engine every model year.

Although no one mentioned having one, I saw the aforementioned badge plain as day in a MBUSA photo advertisement featuring an orion blue coupe in a recent magazine. Maybe this badge is only on the Euro versions (I'm sure the photo came from corporate).

My guess is your friend confused the new supercharged 1.8 with a turbocharged 1.8.

Later, BT

They are going to wait until they have used up all their C230K badges before they introduce the new C180K badge.
