I'm debating on the same exact thing, I have a silver C320 sedan and I'm getting my tint done monday. Still have yet to decide if I want the front to be lighter and if I want to go sub-legal (which is 35% in mass.)

These pics might help you decide. I had 35% done in the back and the front was already slightly tinted when I bought it maybe 10%?

If you have the hatchback, make sure they tint it with the hatch down so any water doesn't drain into the top of the hatch. Also you must specify non metallic tint. Do a search for titles only using 'tint' and you'll get threads about what can happen. Basically the reciever for the remote and FM radio is in the top of the window. Mine got friend and its not cheap.

But I got 15% around and it really looks good. Mine car is obsidian black. I haven't taken any pics yet since I had it done or I would share.

Thanks, I appreciate it. And the front is much less tinted, which means the percentage would be higher than 35%. Tint percentage is measured in how much light gets into the car. The darker the tint, the less light gets in.

I think 20% is a good tint to go with: not too light but not too dark. also try to get the same % all the way around (i think mismatched tint looks weird).

I would also recommend 20%- blocks out a lot of sun and is still offers reasonable visibility for driving. As far as all the mismatch, I have factory tint (neutral) on the front and 20% on the rear and back windows and I think it looks ok. I would go all the way but don't want to get ticketed.

Yeah, I would prefer 20% tint all the way around but I don't want that $200 fine. So, I might do like 25% or 30% all the way around.

35% is too light imo. I would go with 20%. research the film brands also. llumar, tends to have a darker color to it. 3m has lil green to it,the colour stable one anyhow, and huperoptik is just light brown sorta deal. if you are looking for solar control, go with the huper optik works really well blocks like 90% of heat rays. 3m is also a good brand.

Yeah i agree, the really dark tint is asking for issues with the cops, in SLOHIO its 50% and higher to be legal - SUCKS! btw. I want to get tint on mine, but i really dont wanna blow it. I do like the very light almost mirror tint that coms on the lexus RX SUV's, but dont know if aftermarket places would carry it with out it looking like the bootleg chrome kind.

the light kinda turqoise blue looks good on a silver car. I've seen a purple-ish tinge on a black BMW that looked alright

I already have an appointment with Daystar Tinting, I've heard good stuff about them. Yeah, I'm thinking about 35% just because of the negative attention that the real dark stuff might draw.

Yea, you should because if you go less, then the cops have a reason to pull you over, even if your driving fine...I'd rather not have to pay a fine and pay to have it removed...
