And how unsuitable is this wheel/tire package for bad weather driving (rain or snow).

Rain, no problem. Snow - you may want to mount a set of snow tires, if you get summer Z-rated on your car. I hear, as of 2003 they put all-season tires, so you'll at least be able to drive in the snow. As for the car itself, its traction and stability systems will help you a lot, although this is no substitution for decent snow tires.

Vadim - nope. 2003 still has mich pilots.

I just got my 2003. I will chime in too.. Rain no prob. Snow - FORGET IT! umm.. did I mention - F O R G E T I T !

It is next to impossible to drive on Z's in the white.

Snow tires with wheels will set you back around $850 (see tirerack.com).

Now in the dry and rain... it's a world of difference.

I did drive my C230K with ContiSportContact in snow, if you can get the car rolling(with less than 1 inch of snow), the DSA will safe ur butt in corners, once the snow reach one inch I suggest you better have some snow tires or drive another car.

You can't compare 16' all season tires with 17' Z-rated tires in terms of Dry and Wet traction.

If you try to run your C7 equipped car in snow you will get an increase in mileage. Simply because you won't be going anywhere. Can you say totally useless in the snow ?

wouldn't going nowhere imply a decrease in mileage?

Decrease in tire to surface mileage of course but increase in steady state fuel economy because you will be idling your engine most of that time. I should have said fuel economy.

In my area, I see a lot of Chinese parents buying their daughters the C7 package. I'm sure these young wenches don't have a damn clue that these tires won't help them much in the snow.

I think I'll still be seeing Coupes with C7 tires when the snow hits over here.

It will increase your mileage in the snow with C7 for sure, becasue your tires just keep spining and spining at the same spot.

Oh are you talking about me? But I am a guy and I did my C230K drive in snow last winter with my ContisportContact.

But I did see lots of your gals with the C7 driving 5km/h in corners... lol

miles per gallon = miles driven / gallons of gas used

as miles driven goes to zero, the equation goes to zero as well.

Just post of the pics in Csportcoupe.com under member profiles.

I got my from Lordco Parts and installed myself. Took me about
2 1/2hrs for the install. I paid $850CDN with tax under an employee discount rate. The retail price is about $950 plus tax.

What is that K&N Filter? What does it do?

That's a K&N cone filter, # RU-1480. The aluminum hose is to direct cold air from the air inlet to the filter, since the engine bay is very very hot and I don't want the cone filter to suck in too much hot air to decrease the performance. So far, it works fine with me, but some people already got the K&N drop in filter and I am waiting for their Dyno #'s.

I don't know much about performance and mechanical mods, but does the coupe come with a stock air filter or no?

where does this air filter go into or replace?

I took the stock Air box out and replace it with the cone filter. The place I attach the cone filter is where the stock air box should be.

1. How does this K&N filter improve performance on the car?

2. What is wrong with the stock air box?

3. How much and where did you buy?

4. Any other options beside K&N?

Was it hard to install the Stage II's? Any malfunction problems after installation? How long have you had them in the car for?
Did you have to reprogram anything?

The air filter can improve performance by letting the engine breath more easily. The HID kit took me about 2 1/2 hrs to install, it's not very hard, but it sure takes some time and I have to take it to a MB dealer to reprogram after I install it. I have it on my car since April and I love it.

I don't know about the air filter but I sure would like to get a set of those Stage II's in my car!

What's the brand at Lordco?

$45 CDN and only one dealer in the entire lower mainland will do it.
