Factory Bose amp
#4
I don't know if anyone has done this yet, but I would try connecting the two wires that go to the Bose sub to the speaker level inputs on the aftermarket sub amp. Those wires are easy to get to and if it doesn't work, splice them back onto the Bose sub connector.

I thought about doing it... But as u know the bose sub is weak.
I dont think that has anything to do with the sub itself.
I think it just doesnt get the correct signals.
So from the bose amp.... it goes through some cross over.. and that crossover is set TOTALLY wrong...
So if i was going to splice between the amp and sub, i would need to get it before the signal was changed.

Just rig the amp to a car battery, snip the sub wires and plug them into the amp. Inquiring minds want to know...

i tried the sub... it works sort of..
but i know ppls that have paid $$$$ to have their own amp and sub is NOT going to want to use the factor set crossovers...

Please be careful replacing the Bose amp with another Amp
even if you manage to find where the damn thing is.
I have read on the Bose web site that their speakers operate on
very low voltages so an aftermarket amp might fry them.
If you had the non-bose speakers then I guess it would not be a problem.

Yea....much better than factory sub....but it doesnt seem to give me the range im looking for. Maybe I can tune it more..
but id rather try to get a full signal (left and right)
the front and back seems like too much work

Anyway, I told you where the amp is. It looks like you have to remove the rear passenger side seat bolster (the only piece that doesn't fold down) in order to remove that side panel. There's a screw on the top of the cushion and at least one on the bottom. If you grab the top of the cushion you can sort of squish it out of the way so you can see the top bolt. The bottom is visable with the back folded down. After that, you're on your own.

Yea...that seems like more trouble than its worth???
maybe i cna just tap in right after the head unit and get a raw signal.. and i dont have to process the signal compared to after the stock amp.

if u want to save space u might want to try the infinity basslink
its a sub with built in amp. and its pretty small... or get some bazooka tube of some sort. The basslink is square and it can fit on hte smaller of the 2 fold down seats.. and it requires no box.
So u can mount it directy on hte back seat to have the sub come up and down with the seat.

I was 1 click away from buying a Basslink on Ebay. Then I thought about going for a 10" square Solobaric and Punch amp. That was in the winter when I never carried anything in the back. Spring came and then beach chairs, blankets, and coolers moved in. I don't want to sacrifice room for a sub. The spare time area is a nice spot though...

heh.. the basslink is actually bigger than i thought or remember..
it takes up quite a bit of space.. i kind of regret not getting a seperate amp and sub... cuz i realized it doesnt matter how tall the thing is (as long as it fit in the trunk) and i could have made it take up to teh same area.
right now im still figuring out where to mount it and have a clean install.. the wires are just a mess right now....
